Welcome back! We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing weekend!
Red Ribbon Week continues this week. Each day there will be a special dress-up day to show that we are drug-free. Please see Red Ribbon section below for those special days.
Tomorrow is School Picture Day! A flyer was sent home in orange folders on Thursday. It is also wear a jersey day. so students can bring a jersey to change into or put on over their picture day clothes.
Don't forget that Arcade Games are due Tuesday, November 1st! We can't wait to see (and play) all the fun games that the students have created!

Book Character Dress-Up Day
in celebration of the Annual Wells School Wide Read-a-Thon
Staff and students may dress up as a book character from one of their favorite books! If you can, bring your favorite book with that character to read at the Read-a-Thon and carry as part of your costume.
NO MASKS or SCARY COSTUMES
Please be sure to wear your tennis shoes to school for PE. Bring any special change of shoes for your costume in your backpack so you are able to participate in PE on Monday.
Red Ribbon Week
The days of October 19-25, we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week. It is a special week recognized around the country promoting drug prevention. This week-long celebration of events is designed to educate and increase awareness about drug abuse and prevention. Below we have listed several activities for your child to voluntarily participate in.
Monday, Oct. 24 “BEING DRUG FREE IS NO SWEAT”
Students and teachers wear sweats.
Tuesday, Oct. 26 “TEAM UP AGAINST DRUGS”
Assembly at 1:15 with The Mavs Man (Guests are more than welcome to attend!) Students and teachers wear your favorite sports team shirt/jersey.

Learning Activities:
*Book Fair Opens at 5:30 p.m.*
6:00-7:15 p.m. Classrooms open for Family Learning Events
7:15-7:45 p.m. Milk and “Bookies” in the Gym
Wells Teachers are working on a great night of learning with teachers reading stories, animal exhibits and math & science activities in each grade level. It all wraps up
milk and cookies in the gym while Principal Ramos reads a bedtime story!!
Pajama Day on November 3rd during the school day – so head over to Milk and Bookies Learning Night in your PJ’s!!
Please note: This is a family fun and learning night – students must be chaperoned by
adults. Thank you!
Veteran's Day Program
We will be honoring United States Veterans and active duty military personnel on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 8:15 a.m. in our gym. ***
Wells’ families are encouraged to invite Veterans and active duty military personnel to the assembly. They will be considered our guests and will be recognized at the assembly.
The Wells third graders will be performing a thirty minute patriotic program in honor of our guests. Students are encouraged to practice at home and can use the following link:

Our guests will need to arrive between 7:45 and 8:05 a.m. A reception will be available beginning at 8:45 a.m. for our honorees and their student host.
Additionally, we are also filling our display cases by the library in tribute to United States Veterans. Please submit a high resolution picture as an attachment to Ms. Hirunrusme at janet.hirunrusme@pisd.edu. The 3rd graders will be making frames to go with your pictures to be displayed in the locked cases. They must be in by Wednesday, November 2, 2016, so we can put up the display cases. Please include the veterans’ information as well. (Name, Military branch served, years of service, and relation to student)
Finally, if you are bringing a guest to our morning or evening performance on November 10th, please tell your guest to have their driver’s license with them and sign in at the front office for the morning performance.
