What is happening with the MSHSAA Spring Sports and Activities?
At this point, this is what we know. All MSHSAA athletic related events have been cancelled up until the week of April 27. This will allow teams to get back in shape and ready to play a game. This could always change as new regulations are put in place. We will be here to keep you updated. If you want more information, you can visit www.mshsaa.org
Some MSHSAA activities like Speech, Debate and Theatre have been cancelled for the year. Unfortunately, all the remaining MSHSAA sponsored Music Festivals, large group, solos and small ensembles have also been cancelled for the remainder of the school year. How can my child stay involved with AHS? What is ESports?
We have expanded our ESports(computer gaming) offerings in the hopes of attracting some new ESports team members. The ESports coaches send out emails to the students earlier this week with an invitation to join a ESports team. We really hope they take advantage of this opportunity.

What other activities will be available to my child during this time?
We have several ideas to keep students involved with their AHS peers and we will be releasing those opportunities to students in the coming days and weeks. We want to allow the students and teachers to have some time to adjust to the new virtual learning before overwhelming them. Activities could include things like book groups, online chess tournament between AHS students, walking challenges and team workouts from coaches to keep the kids in shape.
Hear it from a parent of one of our ESports team member:
“It does teach cognitive skills, but most importantly I see a difference in his overall behavior. His grades have improved significantly since last year.”
Stay healthy Affton!
