This week in school
What a busy 'it is starting to feel a little more like old days' kind of week!
With the mostly great weather, this week has given us the opportunity to hold some great outdoor events. Nursery had their Seaside themed day, complete with icecream, sand and a bouncy castle. Year 3 had a street party complete with balloons and party bags. Most of the bubbles held their sports day sessions, complete with hurdles, friends cheering and a little healthy competition between the hives (come on the green hive) and definitely between the staff.
Our new Deputy Headteacher for September visited us this week and spent the day with some of the children. The Local Governing Body met for the last time this academic year and welcomed your two newly elected parent Governors - Mrs Jade Lamb and Mrs Anna Pearce.
In the next week we have more bubble parties, more sports, more special theme days and Y5/6 Puberty talk.
Just a heads up for parents of Y6 children - don't make any plans for 3pm on the last day of term - we intend to do our bell parade again and you will definitely want to be waiting on the Green (hopefully still wearing your masks) for that. More details next week.
The weather is set to 'heatwave' this weekend - please do take care of yourselves and the children with sunhats, suncream and plenty of water to drink.
Have fun and stay safe!
Thank you for your continued support - have a really lovely weekend.
Mrs R - Proud Headteacher

Stars
We have enjoyed talking and learning about the seaside this week. We started the week with the story ‘Lucy and Tom at the Seaside’ by Shirley Hughes. We had a fantastic time on Wednesday playing on our makeshift beach with our buckets and spades, bouncing on the bouncy castle, eating ice creams with sprinkles and sauce, and the sun shone so it really did feel like a special ‘seasidy’ day. The children helped to create a small world seaside in the tuff tray, have painted with ice paints, put the correct number of shells on the tens frame and have learnt lots of rhymes about the sea.
In maths the children have compared the weight of things and practised recognising amounts on a tens frame.
In phonics we have practised reading the Phase 2 tricky words.

This week we have become fashion designers and have had great fun designing and creating our own T-shirts. We are very excited to show them to you. We have also been writing a description of our T-shirts, ready for our fashion show next week.
In maths we have become problem solvers and through our worship times we have focussed on becoming encouragers and kindness experts. This fitted in very well with our Sports Day activities this week. We loved taking part in the events and cheering our teams on.
We have also been learning about the circus in preparation for our circus and dance workshops next week. What new skills will we learn?
Year 2
Year 3
Year 4
What a perfect day to showcase all our athletics skills we have been working on with Mr Pooley during our sports' day on Thursday. Add in teamwork, lots of shouting and encouragement and perfect weather for a lovely afternoon. Hopefully next year, we will see you all back celebrating this important event with us.
In maths, we have been practising our money skills, especially estimating and giving change. This will come in handy when buying ice cream and treats during the summer holidays! Showing off our Year 4 grammar skills, we have painted a very clear picture of our bedroom, in words, after reading about Toad's vivid description of his caravan in The Wind in the Willows. Some of our bedrooms are immaculate would you believe! In French, we are putting the finishing touches to our weather forecasts, before presenting them to the class.
We can't believe we only have one more full week as Year 4's.
Year 5/6
The week in year 5/6 has gone so quickly, it must be because of the limited time left with our year 6s! We have enjoyed the preparation for Sports Day with Mr Pooley, suggesting that the big day will be a tight run thing in each class. Which Hive will come out on top? In maths we have been consolidating our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages; culminating in everyone tackling the most difficult of reasoning problems. In English we have been putting ourselves into the shoes (or moccasins) of the Cherokee tribe of Northern America, writing about the Trail of Tears, an enforced relocation of 15,000 people from their homes, into unknown territory. Our science has been focussing on Fossils, how they are created and what they tell us about the creatures that roamed our world millions of years ago. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Only 5 days left, year 6 (sniff!)
