Tool of the Week- Zip Grade
***I just today found an app that I may like better (because it integrates with Google Classroom). It is also paid at $6.99 for the year and offers a total of 300 free scans. Stay tuned next week for a full review of PaperScorer!
Normally I wouldn't promote a paid app of any kind, however, I know folks are looking for ways to grade quickly and this is a pretty nifty little tool that can help. It is an app and a web site.
- Go to the web site and create a free account.
- Set up your classes and add students using your computer (not required)
-Print scan sheets. these are bubble sheets and come in 20, 50, or 100 question versions.
- Yes! You can laminate a class set of these, have students use dry erase markers, and wipe clean after scanning so you can reuse them.
Scan the bubble sheets with your device using the app, and the student's grade will pop up.
I have been practicing with this and I can tell you what seems to work really well and what doesn't. it scans and grades VERY accurately, even with kids not bubbling exactly. And you can look at the bubble sheet and how it scored everything right on the screen because it takes a picture. What isn't so smooth is the fact that sometimes it will scan so fast you will get multiple scans for one kid. And if the student hand writes their name, then it won't automatically identify them as a particular kid in your class (you can go through on each scan and choose who it belongs to). Although it will just take a pic of their handwritten name and assign the score that way. It WILL allow you to tag questions by standard, and it will automatically grade by percentage on each standard (HELLO PEOPLE WHO READ "GRADING SMARTER, NOT HARDER"!)

Tip of the Week- Wireless Filtering
To get back to their correct filtering level, students and teachers on wireless devices can visit filter.friscoisd.org and follow the directions on the page. Please help us teach our students to do this so they can stay off their data plans while at school! If the web site you need is blocked, you can complete a Helpdesk ticket in Eduphoria. There is a special section for unblocking web sites!
For LTHS folks
2 in the upstairs workroom (TCU and Baylor)
4 in the back office of A201 (Austin College, Trinity, Southwestern University and Rice)
Each of these are labeled in Facilities and Events so you will know where to pick them up.
The rest of the carts are located in the computer lab off the library. All of these now have parking spots. Please return carts to the correct spot at the conclusion of your reservation; they are spread out in such a way that we won't overload any of our circuits.
Also, be sure you grab the correct cart when you come to get the equipment! People are very sad when they reserve UT only to have to take the A&M cart, and vice versa. Plus we don't know who has which stuff. More cart accessories are coming soon- check out sheets, some cart tips, and so forth! We are getting there!
