DATA Pennies for Patients
DATA is partnering with LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) to collect pennies (or coins and bills) to help raise money for childhood blood cancer patients and research. Each student will be receiving coin boxes to take home to put their donations in.
Students can use the box to collect spare change, donations from family/friends, etc. They are to bring in what they can, because everything helps. Our goal is to raise $2,000. The donation drive starts on: Monday March 2nd and ends on March 13th, 2 weeks - to raise $$ for a great cause! The top 2 Classes earn a Pizza Party!!

A little bit about AVID and what makes up an AVID student:
AVID is an academic elective for which “determined” 6th – 12th graders must apply, interview and be admitted before enrolling. The program is for students who have the “individual determination” to attend college, and…
· behave appropriately in class,
· attend school on a regular basis, possess a 2.0 – 3.5 grade point average,
· will enroll in college preparatory classes,
· will work hard to meet academic goals, and
· will actively participate in AVID events.
In addition, the program is for students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
· Will be the first in their family to attend college
· Are from a population traditionally under-served in 4-year colleges
· Have special circumstances
