Re-enrollment process closes January 31, 2023.
Responsibility at TLA
Friday assembly included an activity that could earn scholars a homework pass. Scholars collaborated to identify a way that they could be responsible for each letter of the alphabet. There were a ton of creative thinkers who highlighted ways to model good character.
1st Grade Light Source Hunt
Human Genetics Traits Lab
This week in Biology, we completed a Human Genetics Lab. Scholars observed different human genetic traits, found the frequency of occurrence among class members, and predicted if the dominant trait would always be more common. They took data on traits including: eye color, freckles, tongue rollers, widows peak, hitchhikers thumb, dimples, and attached earlobes. It was a fun way to kick off the start of our module on mitosis and meiosis.
K4 Adopt a Cow
This week K4 scholars took a virtual tour of Synergy Farms, the farm that our virtual cow LuLu lives on. Throughout the tour the farmers touched on the number of cows that live on the farm, different types of cow shelters, types of feed, the milking process, and how the milk is used to make other foods like cheese. The scholars also got to visit a portion of the farm that housed the cows preparing to go into labor, and the scholars were able to view a few day old calves.

Mr. Cieplewski and Mr. Anderson's Message
We would like to take a moment and give a big shoutout to scholars for taking on the RESPONSIBILITY of preparing and doing their best on map testing this week. It was awesome to have scholars come up to us to tell us how they improved their scores. This just shows that even when the work is hard we Persevere and we Get It Done. It is a GREAT feeling when you see your hard work pay off. Thank you TLA families for making sure our scholars were at school and on time to take the MAP test. Great job scholars!
Attendance Goal
January is all about new beginnings! Not only is it the new year, but this week at TLA, we began Semester 2… the 2nd half of the school year already. Wow! This is a perfect time to take a look at your child’s school attendance in Skyward and reflect. What do you notice? Maybe ask yourself: What’s going well? What are some opportunities for improvement? Perhaps there are parts of the morning routine (like setting out clothes, packing a backpack or lunch, etc.) that could be shifted to the evening so that your mornings don’t feel so rushed. If you notice that your child seems overly tired, what if you shifted bedtime to just 15 minutes earlier? Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a BIG difference. Help your child start each day set up for success and ready to learn… and together we can crush those new year goals!
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s attendance, we are here to help! Please reach out to the School Social Worker, Mrs. Nitz, at (608) 690-5158 or jennifer.nitz@tlabeloit.com
TLA 2022-2023 Average Attendance - 93.32% - increase from last week!
TLA Goal - 95%
Career Chat with Ms. Benisch
This week middle and high school scholars interested in becoming a therapist, social worker, or police officer participated in an individual career chat. During the career chat scholars learned about the career and had the opportunity to ask specific questions connected to their interests. These opportunities help build soft skills, confidence, and communication. Thank you to the volunteers that took time out of their day to share career information with the scholars.
K4 Adopt-a-Cow Adventure!
Scholars in K4A participated in a virtual tour of Synergy Farms, where their virtual cow LuLu lives. Scholars learned about the farm, shelters, feed, milking process, and how the milk is used to make other foods. They got to see very young calves too!
