Estacada High School
Assembly and Workshop
On Tuesday, we have brought in an organization by the name of Teen Truth who for over the past 10 years has been developing positive school cultures assemblies, leadership summits, and curriculum.
Our guest speaker, Jared Scott, actually saw this assembly when he was in high school and he now tours the country to schools like ours. Since its inception, Teen Truth has touched over 9 million lives and has a footprint in over 7,000 schools.
After the three assemblies attended by 8th - 12th graders, we had a group of approximately 60 students work with Jared in developing a plan of action for improving school culture. Some very good ideas came out of that workshop that will be implemented.
According to the students in that workshop, these were top challenges that students say they face:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Drugs
- Family pressures
- Accepting others religious beliefs, mental health, sexuality, etc
- Sexuality shamming

ASPIRE Program - Looking for Volunteers
ASPIRE seeks to provide Oregon high school students solid pathways beyond high school. ASPIRE matches trained adult volunteers with high school students to provide one-on-one mentoring. ASPIRE Advisors guide students through the process of accessing their academic strengths or talents and applying for colleges, financial aid, and scholarships.
Quality training is provided for our volunteers prior to meeting with students. No special or previous experience is required.
Please contact our ASPIRE coordinator, Cindy Babikoff for more information.
