Panther Reports

Students will be bringing home their Panther Reports tomorrow. These folders contain all the work that your child completed the previous week. There is a KEEP AT HOME side and a SIGN AND RETURN side. Please sign and return any papers that I request. These are kept for data and documentation purposes. Also, sign the comment page provided in the folder.

Chapel is on Wednesdays. All students need to be in khakis and a burgundy shirt.

Specials Schedule

Every student in the first grade needs to know how to tie their own shoes. I have several students that walk around with their shoes untied all day and when asked to tie them there response is "I don't know how." If this is your child, please work with with them.

Home Work

Please leave the Spelling Square paper in the back of your child's Fish Folder. I will not be printing these every week.

The students have a designated area in the classroom where they turn in all classwork and homework. I verbally remind students, many times, to turn in their assignments. I will not dig through desk, bookbags, or Fish Folders looking for assignments. First grade is a time when students learn responsibility.

I use M&M's in the classroom to reward students. If you are out shopping and could pick us up a bag I would appreciate it. THANKS :)

Spelling Words

Words with the long a sound

Spelling Test

I give the students a bonus word on their spelling list each week. The word is worth an additional 5 points. If the word is missed it does not count against them. I will also read a sentence which contains one or two of the spelling words. The students will be required to write the sentence as I speak it. This is graded as part of their spelling test. I count off for not using punctuation, misuse of capital letters and spelling previously learned words incorrectly.

Every quarter when report cards are processed students with a 100 average for spelling will be moved to a harder list.
