WEEKLY NEWS HIGHLIGHTING OUR STUDENTS & STAFF
The OJH Acts of Random Kindness Club baked cookies, brownies and cupcakes in appreciation of school counselors Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Lasley and their assistant Mrs. Gill. The counselors do an amazing job making OJH a wonderful place to be for students and staff.
Thank you for all you do!
World Read Aloud Day
The Read Aloud Cart made the rounds Feb. 1 at South Elementary to ensure that all teachers had a read aloud book to celebrate World Read Aloud Day! All teachers did a fun read aloud with their class and kids went home with plans to read aloud to their family or assemble their stuffed animals for a read aloud.
Hands-on experience
Did you know the OHS Construction Trades class builds a house? Aside from a few things — like pouring the foundation, doing the electrical work and installing carpet — students, under the direction of Mr. Beets, construct the house from the ground up. This week, students installed insulation with plans to start drywall next week. Once the home, located in the Grand Haven subdivision, is complete, the District will put it on the market.
All-State Band
OHS band students Cheyanne Grube, Kara Ford and Darwin Guat performed with the Missouri All-State Band Jan. 26. Not pictured are Jennifer Latta and Brady Perkins, who were named Honorable Mention All-State, and Marcus Keller, who was selected as an alternate. Congratulations to everyone who auditioned.
Clay it up!
