Happy 2016!
I want to make sure that this second semester, I am meeting you where you and your students are at in order to ensure everyone is getting what they need. I spent a lot of time the last semester getting to know you and your working style as well as your students. If you have any suggestions on how you want our work to look this semester, please let me know!
New Year, New Goals
How can you decide what you want to focus on?
1. Look at LEAP observations from the first semester and reflect on what you want to improve on.
2. Reflect on students' scores, how can you support all students in reaching their goals? What steps will be helpful in supporting them?
3. You are already a great teacher and I am sure you have ideas of places you feel you need to improve, anything that is relevant to you in your practice can be a goal!
Days I will be out this Month
Monday January 11th- Field trip with my students
Wednesday January 13th- Cognitive CoachingFriday January 15th- LEAP Callibration Session (will still be in the building)
Please let me know if you will be out any days as well so I can plan accordingly, thank you! :)
Shout outs!
Vicky- Equity- Vicky has been ensuring that students are getting the supports they need not only in the classroom but at home by communicating with parents about what their child needs support in and giving them the resources necessary to do so. Awesome use of parent involvement!
Eva- Students First- Eva's students have shown tremendous growth in their writing from the beginning of the year. She has prioritized needs and has given students what they need in order to get to the next level, way to put students' needs first!
Cristian- Integrity- Cristian teaches his students to do the right thing even when no one is watching! They will give themselves the consequence needed without any support, students voluntarily do their required burpees when they mess up on the obstacle course!
Consuelo- Equity- Consuelo has been differentiating her questioning during writing lessons so that students are getting what they need. Some students are given scaffolded questions while others are asked to think deeper and do more rigorous work. Keep it up!
Sandra- Fun- During the month of December, Sandra focused on teaching students about the different holidays celebrated around the world by encouraging students to do different crafts, dances, and other activities related to the holidays. Students were joyful as they learned about all different cultures!
