Who Was…

Maya was born in St Louis, Missouri, 1928. She dreamed that one day she will be at the top of the list of boy’s and girl’s favorite writers. Maya’s favorite writers are William Shakespeare , W.E.B. Dubois, Langston Hughes and Paul Laurence Dunbar. She had a special spot in her heart for african american poets. Maya went to high school in San Francisco. After she graduated she had a son and named him Guy. Maya only had one sibling, a brother Bailey. When Maya was 3 years old her parents got divorced . Bailey and Maya went to live with their grandmother.

What Did She Do

Maya Angelou achieved many things in her life. she has written books of poetry , autobiographies, children’s books and screenplays. Maya also has been a singer, actress and a movie director. One of Maya’s famous books are “I know why the caged bird sings”Maya has been a professor at several Universities and has worked for Civil Rights both in the United States and in Africa. Civil Rights is fighting against something thats not fair, like slavery.

Impact On The World

Maya always said i’m the hope and the dream of the slave and soul there i go. One of the reasons Maya wrote books is to inspire people and she sure did!!!!

Maya had humor, wisdom and kindness and she carded for other people. Maya was always kind even with the hard times in life.

Fun Facts

In 1941 Maya lifted Stamps,Arkansas to live with her mother in San Francisco, California. In 1957 Guy and Maya moved to New York City. Maya read her poem One The Pulse Of Morning at president Bill Clinton's first inauguration in 1993. Maya died May 28 2014.
