Message from Ms. Frias

What a memory making year for all of us! We are nearing the end of the 3rd nine weeks on March 12th. Spring Break for this year will be March 15th to March 19th. After Spring Break, if your child is not attending school through hybrid (Monday through Thursday) or In Person (Monday through Friday) then we are more than happy to welcome them back on March 22nd. If you would like to make a change from on line to in the building, please be sure to call the front office at 434-3400 and I will call you myself to work out the details and to answer any questions you might have.

You Are Aztec Strong!

Attendance- Goal 96%

Please help us make sure that your children are in school, online and on point.

Students are to be in class from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. whether they are online or in the building.

There are two attendance rules that Texas students need to follow:

1. Any absence needs to be called into the the attendance office or it will be considered unexcused. Ten consecutive unexcused absences will lead to a Truancy Court filing with Judge Chapman. El Paso Courts have began to accept truancy cases once more.

In order to keep the best possible learning environment for your child we please ask that children be in an area during online learning where they can learn. If you must run errands with your children, please be sure to call in the absence. We have seen an increase of online students who are in cars traveling, at restaurants, at parks, but not "in school" where they can best learn.

2. If a student has 19 or more total absences (excused and unexcused) the child has the potential for grade retention. Your case will need to be presented to the attendance committee. At 19 absences, students are considered to be at loss of credit. Return to in building learning is highly recommended and students will need to make up the loss of learning through summer school.

February Testing

Please help us to help your children grow by making sure they are participating in the middle of year testing. We encourage you to help our students by:

  • Encouraging them to do the very best they can without help.
  • These assessments are not graded. Instead they help us create a plan for your child to grow...grow...grow. This is why it is important to know where your child is in their reading and math skills. We know students can ALWAYS get better so we need a good picture of where their skills are. Please no helping.

Types of tests:

  • Pre-K Observables begin 2/1-2/26
