Bobcat Back-To-School is Monday, August 29 from 1:00 to 6:00pm
Students will pick-up class schedules, meet their teachers, pay fees, get questions answered about athletics/clubs, turn in health care information (if applicable), get their picture taken/receive their school ID card, and much more.
In an attempt to not overwhelm the picture line we are asking families to attend Bobcat Back-To-School on Monday, August 29 at the designated times below. Of course, if you have children with multiple last names OR if you are not able to attend during your scheduled time, you can attend at a different time.
School Pictures on Monday, August 29
Pictures for school IDs and the yearbook will be taken during Bobcat Back-To-School on August 29.
Students will be photographed by O'Connor Photography. Photos can be purchased by visiting the O’Connor Photography’s website. If you have any questions about ordering pictures, call O’Connor Photography at 1-800-993-4929.
Picture retakes will be October 11 for those students who are unable to make it on August 29.

Registration is now open for Sumner Middle School Athletics for the 22-23 school year! We are excited to announce SBSLD is partnering with FinalForms for all athletic registrations. With FinalForms you will complete and sign athletic participation forms online when registering your student for athletics. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and after any update.
Getting started with FinalForms:
Access FinalForms at https://sumner-wa.finalforms.com/
For support during the process, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Get Help” or “User Support”
Information on how to complete this process can be found in this document (Spanish document).
Athletic fees can be paid:
In person at Sumner Middle School (August 29 during Bobcat Back to School) or during normal business hours (6:30am-3:30pm)
Over the phone at 253-891-5000
Family Access - To pay fees in Family Access, click on District Links in the top right-hand corner and select Online Payments. Families who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch rates may have reduced rates (see next section for more information).

This school year, there are some important changes to meal prices. A national school meal waiver that provided free meals for all students due to the pandemic expired over the summer. This means that meals are no longer free for everyone.
We encourage families who may be eligible to apply for free meals. Applications can be found at sumnersd.org/meals. Applications are confidential. Families who qualify for free and reduced-price meals may also be eligible for waived or reduced fees to participate in extracurricular school programs, such as sports fees, club fees, field trips, ASB event tickets, and more. To receive these benefits, families can fill out a Consent to Share Eligibility form here.
Families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals are also eligible for discounted internet bills through the Affordable Connectivity Program.
Families may want to check their student meal account balances before school starts.
See below for meal prices for the 2022-23 school year:
First Day of School, Tuesday, September 6
School start time for 6th graders on September 6 is 7:25am.
Sixth graders will be picked up according to regular weekday bus schedules for a full school day schedule. School lunch will be available for our sixth graders.
Seventh and eighth graders will begin school on September 6 at 12:25pm. Bus transportation will be provided five hours later than the regular weekday bus schedule. For example, if your regular morning bus pick-up time is 7:10am, then you need to be at your bus stop at 12:10pm.
School lunch will NOT be served to 7th and 8th graders on the first day of school.
