Counselor Corner
As we continue with our theme of being ‘thoughtful’ in the month of October we will be reading the book, “Have You Filled A Bucket Today; A Guide To Daily Happiness For Kids” by Carol McCloud in all K-3 classrooms.
The author of the book, Mrs. McCloud, distills the philosophy of her book into three simple concepts:
Be a bucket filler. Fill a bucket by sharing a kindness, love or even a simple smile with those around you. When you are a helper or a good friend you fill your own bucket as well as others buckets.
Don’t dip into buckets! Don’t be rude or mean to others, dipping into someone else's bucket will not fill your own.
Use your lid. Use your lid to protect yourself from hurtful things. Don't let others mean ideas or hurtful words sneak into your bucket of positive thoughts and emotions.
If your family is having a little too much family time together because of the Covid quarantine, try some bucket filling with each other; check out http://www.bucketfillers101.com/free-resources.php for my ideas about how bucket filling can make us all feel a little better at home and at school!
