Band Social at Spare Time
Our annual Band Social at Spare Time for all band students is coming up soon on Tuesday, November 15. The times will be from 5:00-7:00pm and the band program will provide 2 slices of pizza and unlimited drinks for all band students FREE! We will need approved parent chaperones for this event, and you can sign up on the Sign-Up Genius link here. Please Note: We will be providing pizza and drinks only to the first 15 parent chaperones that sign up on the link above.
Directors and Chaperones will stop supervising students promptly at 7:15pm. At that time, parents will again assume the responsibility of their student whether or not they leave the facility at that time. If your student would like to participate in the Shaker's Backyard outside activities (go karts, ropes course, etc.), you as the parent will need to attend to supervise and sign the liability waiver. Directors and Chaperones will not be supervising these areas.
Next Performance - Holiday Concert
Our next performance is the Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 15 starting at 6:30pm in the Belton HS Performing Arts Center (PAC). This will be the first performance where students get to perform on stage set up in the whole Beginner's Ensemble, which is all 8 of our beginner classes put together in traditional concert band arcs. More details will be sent about this performance later when we get closer to the date.
In order to prepare for this combined performance, we will be having 2 after school group rehearsals. The first one will be on Monday, December 12 and the second the next day on Tuesday, December 13. Both rehearsals will take place in the Band Hall from 4:00-5:00pm. Students will need to have their ride pick them up by 5pm. A grade will be taken for participation in each of these rehearsals.

All-Region Audition Recap
Our students have been working hard on their All-Region Music since before school even started, and these auditions were our most individually-competitive event all year. They were treated with breakfast tacos, cupcake treats, dinner from Double Dave's Pizzaworks, and 2 hours of fun at Grand Station Entertainment. Be sure to click on the side picture link to see photos from throughout the day.
We are happy to report that 15 of our students earned placement in the All-Region Band, as well as 4 alternates that serve as honorable mentions. Please join us in recognizing our students for this prestigious accomplishment by seeing their names here. The directors wish to thank the many parent chaperones that were so instrumental in making this day a success. Our day could not have gone so smoothly without their help. Thank you parents!
Mr. Trahan, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Pulley are proud of the hard work all of our students put in over the las 2-1/2 months. We are especially proud of their responsible and respectful behavior throughout the 15-hour day on Saturday. Our students worked hard and then got to play hard all while conducting themselves in a professional manner. They even earned praise from other competing schools from their superior character. Way to go BMS Band!
Elementary Holiday Tour
Students started to prepare for our upcoming Elementary Holiday Tour on Wednesday, December 7 as we visit the 5th graders from Leon Heights, Miller Heights, and Sparta elementary schools. We utilize the STARS Sightreading method for learning to read new music so we can continue to grow in musical literacy.

This will occur during school and we will most likely stop for Lunch at the Raising Cane's in Temple off 31st Street. This restaurant has become our official BMS Jazz Band Lunch Spot!
Students must be academically eligible to attend, which means they must be passing all of their classes with a 70 or above. We will need parent chaperones for this event, so please check your calendar and email Mr. Pulley if you can help out on that day. We are excited to FINALLY get to perform at the Temple VA Hospital - a first for the Belton MS Jazz Band!
