Illuminate Tips from Coach Karleen
Here are a few tips on using Illuminate:
- Students need to sign in to Launchpad. After clicking on the Illuminate icon, they will then click on “CLICK HERE” on the left hand side of their screen.
- DO NOT SIGN ON USING THE WINDOW ON THE RIGHT.
Viewing Reports
- View the Reporting Teacher view document here for instructions on how to run reports.
- The “Assessment Matrix Report” is probably the most helpful. It is color coded and grouped by DOK level or Standard. Click here to learn more about this report and view a sample.
- Please reach out if you need help viewing reports.
Below, find a two-minute video that will help you access the matrix report.
Some ideas:
English--Have students choose an ideal vacation spot and navigate to it on Earth. Have them write/research about that place.
History--Every place has a history. Whatever region you're teaching this summer, have students locate it on more than just a flat map and then research it from there.
Science--As students learn about a scientist or scientific principle, have them find its place of origin on a Earth.
Math--Have students navigate to a particular place and work on scaled distance or area problems.
Geography--This one is Captain Obvious:) Students can practice their map skills in a fun way.
Now here's the super bonus part:
Make those lessons as fun as they were when I was an 80s kid. How? Carmen Sandiego is hiding in Google Earth! Click the button below. (P.S. I can't wait to play, and I'm an adult!)
- Sketching Your Goals
- End of Year Reflection (use to reflect on the previous year)
- Back-to-School Soundtrack
- Reflect on the Past Year
Microsoft Resources and Badges!
But wait...there's more! As you take courses on the community, you earn points toward badges and even your Microsoft Innovative Educator certification! Learn and earn! See you there. Click the button below to get started, and sign in with your FCS Office365 credentials.
Finish Line, what's next?
Plug-in to Their Possibilities
Dive into the fascinating world of energy, nuclear fission and fusion, and personal finance with Learning Power! Expand your students' minds with "in-class field trips" facilitated by Georgia Power education coordinators who bring an informative energy curriculum to your classroom. Learning Power's highly interactive lessons are aligned with Georgia Standards of Excellence and are a great way to stimulate your students' minds.
Do you like to flip?
Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. Grids can be shared with classes, small groups, or any collection of users interested in a common strand of questions. Each grid can hold an unlimited number of topics and each topic can hold an unlimited number of responses. Topics can be text-based or include a resource such as an image, video, Giphy, emoji, or attachment. Customizable security settings help protect student privacy.
Use Flipgrid to further classroom conversations by assigning questions as homework assignments and then continue the conversation in class the next day.
