Monday: Celebrate Red Ribbon Week (Wear red from head to toe)
Tuesday: Be a Hero, Don’t Do Drugs (Dress as your favorite superhero)

Wednesday: A Minion Reasons to be Drug Free (Dress up as a minion- yellow and blue, overalls, etc)
Thursday: I Elect to be Drug Free (Wear red, white, and blue)
Friday: My Character Counts, I’m Drug Free (Dress as your favorite book or movie character)

Looking for some fun fall activities to do with your family?

October Guidance Lessons
Below are the topics we will be covering in guidance in the month of October. After your child's guidance lesson, you can use this guide to ask them questions. Discussing these topics as a family will have an even greater impact. Thank you for your support in your child's education.

Ask your child: What makes you special?
1-Standing in Someone Else's Shoes
Ask your child: What is empathy? What does it mean to think about how someone else is feeling?
2- Sneetches
Ask your child: How does it feel when you are excluded? Should you change yourself because of what other people think of you?
3- Enemy Pie & Friendship Pie
Ask your child: What characteristics make a great friend? How can you develop new friendships?
4- Red: A Crayon's Story; it's what's on the inside that counts
Ask your child: Why should we look at a person's character and not just their outward appearance?
5- The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs; perception
Ask your child: Are things always the way they appear? What does it mean to "jump to conclusions?"
October 10th-21st: Kelso's Choices
K- Introducing Kelso
Ask your child: Who is Kelso? What does he help you do? Do you remember any of his choices?
1- Kelso Hand Signs
Ask your child: What are some of Kelso's Choices and the hand signs that go with them?
2- Kelso Scenarios
Ask your child: Give your child an example of a conflict that might happen or has happened in real life. Ask them which one of Kelso's Choices they could use to solve the problem. Ex: Remember when you got into a fight with your friend about who could choose the movie we watched? How could you solve that using one of Kelso's Choices?
3- Kelso Review
Ask your child: Review Kelso's Choices with your child. Ask them if they can name all 9 choices without looking at any resources,
4- Kelso & being a good sport
Ask your child: If winning isn't everything, why do people not like losing? What reactions do you have when you lose a game?
5- Kelso Creations & making Kelso murals on the playground
Ask your child: Which one of Kelso's choices did you illustrate for the younger students? Why is it important to pass on what you know to students who are younger than you?

Ask your child: What can you do to keep your body healthy?
1- Being Safe With Medicine
Ask your child: Why is it important to make sure you are taking medication properly? How can you make sure you are following the doctor's directions?
2- Peer Pressure
Ask your child: What is peer pressure? What can you do to get out of an uncomfortable situation involving peer pressure?
3- Peer Pressure
Ask your child: What is peer pressure? How can you use the 5 B Method to steer clear of unsafe peers?
4- Peer Pressure & the Media
Ask your child: How do TV shows and advertisements peer pressure you into wanting to do something or wanting to have something?
5- Peer Pressure
Ask your child: What can happen if you make the wrong kinds of choices and follow along with peers who do not make good choices?
