"In The Know" 6/28/2016
A Message from the Leadership Team
As the Fourth of July approaches a great civics lesson presents itself. Take a moment to explore with your students the meaning of the Fourth of July and ways we often celebrate. Have students share if their countries have an independence day and how they might typically recognize that day. Whether you participate in the parade, see the fireworks or barbecue with friends and family I hope that everyone enjoys this long weekend.
Below are some links to share and discuss within your class:

Best Practices
Adult learners often learn while they are on-the-go, meaning that they should be able practice or complete a task while walking to and from school or preparing dinner for their family. By creating activities that can be completed quickly and conveniently, you offer them the opportunity not only to practice but to absorb and retain the information anytime, anywhere and when they need it the most.

Everyone Loves a Good Mystery
Short Story Writing Contest
Mystery and suspense stories can be great motivators to get students excited about reading and writing! A good mystery can provide a launching point for a rich discussion on charters, story structure, central themes, clues, distractions and predictions on “who done it”.
We invite you to share with your students a wonderful opportunity to express their creativity and maybe win a prize in the process!
Check out our suggested readings and sample lesson plans.
