Collaboration
-I facilitated figurative language stations with all of 6th grade and Mrs. Head's 5th grade classes. I also taught a lesson about context clues to 6th grade using QR codes.
- Ms. Johnson and I helped 3 of her students research for the annual DAR essay contest.
-Mrs. Smith, Mrs, Hakemack, Mrs. Cooper, and myself continue to meet with 4th, 5th, and 6th graders every Tuesday after-school for the Bluebonnet Book Club.
Lessons
Pre-K has continued to learn about library manners and behavior during their monthly story time. They will begin check-out after Thanksgiving. Kindergarten has learned about the parts of a book and fictional story elements using the Texas 2x2 book list. 1st grade has practiced predicting and author's purpose with 2x2 books. 2nd grade has also been introduced to the 2x2 list by reading the folktale and fable books that made the list this year. 3rd grade finished their last "case" and have officially earned their own library detective license.
Additional tasks performed this month
- The library had it's 1st Storybook Pumpkin competition. We had over 80 entries!
- I was chosen to be a part of Region 13's Librarian Planning Cohort Team. The goal is to connect with librarians from other smaller districts and build quality programming that supports teacher and student success.
