Refuge Youth Weekly Update

December 1st, 2015

Advent Week 1, Hope

It's officially December, Thanksgiving is over, and we can finally, without fear of being judged, put on the Christmas music and start decorating! Christmas is upon whether you're ready or not. I love this season each year, that even with the busyness and stress that holidays bring, Advent is a time to re-focus on who Jesus is and what He means for our lives. It was such a wonderful evening on Sunday celebrating the beginning of Advent at ADVENTure Night with so many of you, and to mark the beginning we lit the first candle, the Hope Candle. And that is what Christmas is all about: the unfailing, firm hope that we have in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ Jesus. No matter what the world has going on around you, we can always come back to our Hope in Christ. That never fails, that never ends. I encourage you all this week to take a few minutes and consider for your life what the Hope of Christ Jesus means to you.

"We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf."

Hebrews 6:19-20
