Howdy!

Quick Note From Mrs. Dippel

Whew! What a week full of learning in first grade! We have gone from addends to Washington D.C.. We've discussed story elements, reinforced our comprehension skills, made personal connections to our stories and then wrote about them. We also began learning about nonfiction text features. We will start to write nonfiction stories soon. There will be an OPTIONAL eagle research packet coming home attached to a white poster. If your child would like to do research on eagles, please complete at home and return by Friday, March 6, 2015.

In math, we have been practicing different strategies to help us effectively solve and create word problems. We also are learning about the different coins and what their values are.

We completed our study of U.S. symbols today. We learned about bald eagles and even watched via a live cam a bald eagle! We toured the White House, sang along with the presidents on Mount Rushmore and discovered why Liberty Bell has the crack in it. I love discovering new things along with the kids :)
