Happy Summer
Principal's Message
I hope everyone is enjoying their first week of summer break!
Thank you all for a wonderful school year. It was a joy watching the kids grow academically, socially, and physically! (Many are taller than me now! ha)
Your support and involvement was instrumental in the success of the year and it truly feels like a Rancho family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. One of the biggest learnings on my recent journey was the importance and impact of giving back to make the world a better place - and every day families at Rancho are here supporting and giving to our community. Thank You!
As you ease into summer and more relaxed schedules, I encourage you to continue the "600 Seconds to Glory" theme. As Coach Angela taught the students small bits of consistent effort lead to big pay outs - which we saw with our Run Club.
You can use that same philosophy this summer as you have your students read for 600 seconds a day - just 10 minutes every day. (Or more if they find a book or series they love.)
Writing - Encourage students write their teachers letters or postcards about what they are doing throughout the summer. (They can say hi and deliver them at the beginning of the year.)
Math - Play lots of board games and card games. (Each "Sorry" length is 12 spaces and I remember doing lots of mental math as a kid when moving my piece along the board. Each "Monopoly" length is 10 spaces!) When you are out and about shopping have the students estimate how much two items cost together. Give them simple problems for example, "If you have $10.00 and that Lego item is $8.00 about how much will you have left?"
Enjoy your family time together and make lasting memories with your kids.
