Introducing our Newsletter

The Mancos School District athletics, which will include middle school and high school athletics will be putting out this newsletter each Monday. We are excited to have results and upcoming announcements come to you weekly.

Wow what an exciting week for Mancos Athletics. It started off this past Friday with our High School Football program hosting a four team scrimmage. Sargent, Dolores, and Dove Creek joined our Blue Jays for an afternoon of football. It was a great opportunity for the team and coaches to get some work in ahead of the season. It was also a great opportunity for families to get together for some preseason football and catch up after summer. Our High School Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Rangley for their first official games of the season. The girls represented us well going 3 and 1 for a second place finish at the tournament. And finally our Middle School and High School Cross Country teams traveled to Dolores for their first competition. I had the privilege of being able to attend and watch our runners. I am embarrassed to say that this was my first cross country event, but I can tell you without a doubt it won’t be my last. It was a beautiful day in the mountains and so exciting to watch our athletes as they pushed their limits physically and mentally on a tough course. I will post the results below but I want to share that they represented us well. The highlight being a second place finish by our high school girls led by an individual first place run by Teagan Archer. Again Wow, what a great start and I am excited as this week will bring all of our Middle School and High School teams representing Blue Jay Nation! Make sure to check out the calendar on our website for when and where our Fighting Jays are competing.

We are trying to build both a middle school and a high school cheer squad. If you are interested in either one, please let your building secretary know.

Schedules and Calendar

Schedule dates and times change frequently, even though we will post the week's events in this newsletter the most current and up to date information will be on the website. Both a schedule view and a calendar view is available.

Help Needed

With home volleyball games fast approaching we are looking for game personnel to help with the scorers table and the books. These are paid positions. If you are interested or would like further information contact Travis Greenlee at 970-533-7746 or

We will pull eligibility twice each week. One unofficial pull, and one official pull.

Monday - Unofficial pull - This is to inform students early in the week of their status. If they are failing or have low grades in any classes at this time they will have until Thursday to improve them. It gives students an opportunity to communicate with teachers and make up missing work.

Thursday - Official pull - Thursday afternoon we will pull grades for the official eligibility list. If a student is failing one or more classes they will be ineligible the following week, Monday through Sunday.
