Summer School Credit Recovery at HGHS
Changes to Senior Exam Schedule & Graduation Practice
Seniors,
Your mandatory graduation practice has been RESCHEDULED, and some of your final exams have been moved. Since our softball team advanced to the state tournament and will play in Oxford on Friday, May 21, we have made the following changes:
- Your 1st & 2nd block (and 2A) exams have been moved to Wednesday, May 19. The 3A exam is also scheduled for Wednesday, May 19.
- The mandatory graduation practice has been moved to Wednesday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the HGHS main gym. All seniors planning to walk at graduation must report to the gym at this time.
*There are no changes to exams scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday of next week. Please follow the original schedule for Tuesday and Thursday exams.
If you would like to turn in your Chromebook/MiFi on Wednesday, May 19th at graduation practice, we will have a return station in the main gym. If you need your Chromebook/MiFi to complete other work/exams, you may wait and turn your devices in on Thursday or Friday. Traditional seniors will return their devices and chargers to their 5th block teacher after they take their 5th block exam on Thursday, May 20. Remote seniors will turn their devices and chargers in on Friday, May 21, in front of the school between the hours of 1:00PM and 3:00PM.
*If you have any fees that you still owe, these must be paid in order to receive your diploma and transcript. If you are missing any of the following items, please bring cash or check to pay for them during the Chromebook/MiFi return times:

Lady Trojans Headed to State Softball Tournament
Congratulations to our Lady Trojan softball team for making it to the State Tournament as the North Regional Champions! Their first state tournament contest is Friday, May 21, at 9 a.m. at Choccolocco Park in Oxford. The Lady Trojans will take on Helena.
Tickets are distributed by AHSAA. HGHS has no control over tickets.
Please check the website for tickets as they will be released a couple of days before the games.

Wear WHITE on Friday for a white-out! Let's support our Lady Trojans in Oxford!
- Friday will be a full day excused absence for students who attend the game and follow the instructions below.
- When students return they will need to turn in a note from parents stating the softball game as an excuse. The note needs to have the student's first and last name, parent's name, and phone number. They need to attach a copy of their ticket with the 9 a.m. game time on it.
- We will not be taking pep buses.
- ***ALL notes and tickets must be turned in by Monday, May 24, 2021, to be excused.
Tryout Reminders for This Week
Competition Cheer: Competition Cheer Tryouts for grades 7-12 are May 17-19 from 3:30-5:00 in the Auxiliary Gym. Participants will enter through the back entrance of the main high school building and walk straight ahead into the main building lobby. The Auxiliary Gym is located to the left across from the vending machines.
***Middle school 7th and 8th graders are welcome!
Volleyball: Volleyball tryouts are May 17-20 (4:00-5:30) in the main gym. Enter through door #44 in the courtyard. Athletes must have a current physical in hand to try out.
Cross Country: Hazel Green Cross Country tryouts will now be held on Tuesday, May 18th and Wednesday, May 19th at the Hazel Green track from 3:30 to 5:00. Athletes only have to attend one of the two days. A current physical is needed. Please see or email Coach Harris with any issues.

HGHS Graduation: Our Hazel Green High School Graduation will be held on May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the VBC Arena. Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the VBC the morning of graduation. Each graduate will receive eight tickets for family and friends. Masks will be required for all graduates and guests.

*HGHS will serve lunch (and a breakfast for the next day) from 11:00-Noon each day to our remote students. There is no cost for these meals. Meals can be picked up in the car rider line at the back of the school.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

Subscriptions are $9.99 a month (can be renewed monthly) or $69.99 a year (renewed annually).
Great for family or friends who cannot attend events or those who live a distance away.
HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
