Rock Hill Review
October 4, 2020
Opening Up!
Thank you all for helping us have another GREAT week at Rock Hill and for all your support as we continue to face challenges in dealing with Covid 19 on campus. As I said in my mid week report, the health and safety of our kids and staff are paramount to us and we will continue to do all we can to make sure they are safe each and everyday they walk through our halls.
Over the past couple of weeks we have had to make some tough decisions and have some very difficult conversations. However, there is something that has come out of these and that is just how much our kids, parents and staff are truly invested in Rock Hill and how much it means to them to be here each day.
I'll be honest in that there haven't been too many days that have gone by where the thought didn't cross my mind how AWESOME our opening would be had it not been under these circumstances. However, what this has done is brought us all together in a way that no one could have imagined. From our kids to our teachers, time and time again we see a set back and find a way to overcome it. This was clearly evident on Friday when, once again, we had this AMAZING event planned and literally right before it was about to begin we experienced another setback. Yet, just as we have done time and time again, our directors and kids did a BRILLANT job and found a way to push through to put on a GREAT show!
Although we haven't had much time together, it has become crystal clear what the Rock Hill spirit is and what it means when we say FIGHT ROCK FIGHT!! The pandemic will not magically go away this week. We are going to continue to face it head on and have more of these conversations that we all would prefer to never have again. HOWEVER, as we have always done we will continue to FIGHT and PUSH through! We will overcome this TOGETHER and continue to build and amazing place for our kids!! GO ROCK!!

Notes from the Nurse:
Hello Rock Hill Families!
We are off to a great start here at Rock Hill High School! I love seeing our students enjoying being on campus. Their joy is contagious even through the masks! I appreciate how great our students have been at being socially distant and wearing masks. Our students Rock!
Since this is a very different school year than the norm, I want to remind you to please check the online Covid screener daily before coming to school if you are a student, parent of a student for the student or staff member. If you can answer no to all of the questions on the screener- great! We welcome you to come to school.
If you answer yes to any of the daily covid screening questions, we really need you to stay home and to respond to the screener. To respond to the screener, you will then click Rock Hill and report the situation, whether the student or staff member is having any illness/ symptoms, is awaiting covid testing, has been exposed to someone that is covid positive or has been diagnosed with covid. When I receive the alert that there is a response to the screener, I will contact the you about the situation. We can talk through the situation and decide together if our student or staff member can come to school or needs to stay home. (Just because you respond to the screener does not mean you will be restricted for a long period of time).
Parents, it is very important that you keep an ill student home please. This year looks different. If your student has a headache or sore throat for example- please keep them home, answer the screener and let your student do online school for the day until I can talk with you. In years past, kids could still come to school as long as they did not have fever, diarrhea or vomiting. That is not the case this year and we want to make sure you are aware of this change. We have to be more cautious so we can continue to have in person school by keep ill students at home.
When a student becomes ill during the school day, it is important that the student visit the clinic for an evaluation. Parents, if your student texts you that they feel ill, please ask them to visit the clinic. If your student meets the criteria to be sent home, we will contact you and we need a parent to be available to pick up the student within 30-60 minutes please.
This information has been shared by Dr. Ferguson and Mr. Toth. I still wanted to share it again. We need your partnership to keep our students and staff healthy. This is a different kind of school year, but we will work together to not only get through it but to Prosper! While this is a beautiful building and the best of the best, the greatest part of working on this Rock Hill campus is how wonderful our students, families and staff are. We have the best Rock Hill family and let’s help each other stay healthy and able to attend in person school😊
Thank you,

Senior Profile: Jett Wiseman - Kicker
A: I came to Rock Hill for the opportunity to be something special and to set the standard for all coming years. It is amazing to be a senior football player and it is definitely the best family outside of my immediate family I I could’ve ever asked for
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: My goals for this year are to set the standard for everyone to follow and for our team to be the standard that everyone looks up to.
Q: What does it mean to be part of the Rock Hill family?
A: Rock Hill football isn’t a team it’s a family and I’ve grown in many ways physically and mentally that I would have without this Rock Hill football family
Coach Profile: Nick Reeder - Defensive line/Head Freshman Coach

Parent and Guardians,
We are so excited to be a part of the opening of Rock Hill High School and laying the foundation for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). July started with a great boost with an amazing membership drive. As parents and guardians, we believe that we all have similar goals. We want our children and the students attending Rock Hill to laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and to feel the support of those around them. PTO is here with the students and teachers in mind. Every decision PTO makes is with the focus of each and every student and teacher. We encourage you to join the PTO and stay connected with all upcoming PTO sponsored events.
Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to use via email at rockhillhighpto@gmail.com.
