Raider Report
May 2022
Dear Educators, families, and community members,
The unspeakable horror that unfolded at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas is on all of our minds and in all of our hearts.
I want to acknowledge that you may be dealing with a wide range of emotions. We all want to think of school as a safe place for our students, our families, and ourselves.
Ohio HB 123, the Safety and Violence Education Students (SAVE Students) Act, requires Ohio districts serving grades 6-12 to create a multi-disciplinary Threat Assessment Team which may include school administrators, mental health professionals, school resource officers, psychologists, and other necessary personnel. All team members must complete an approved training program upon initial assignment and then every 3 years thereafter.
The Benjamin Logan team will complete the approved training program which includes:
Identifying Students Who May Pose a Threat and Threat Assessment and Management.
These courses were created using evidence-based resources and provide instruction in the following requirements:
- Identifying behaviors, signs and threats that may lead to a violent act;
- Determining the seriousness of a threat; and
- Developing intervention plans that protect the potential victims and address the underlying problem or conflict that initiated the behavior and assessment of plan results.
Sincerely,
Superintendent John Scheu

Benjamin Logan Elementary PTC hosts Pastries with Parents!
Dozens of special parents and grandparents joined the students on Monday and Tuesday morning at Benjamin Logan Elementary for the Pastries with Parents event sponsored by the BLES PTC (Benjamin Logan Elementary Parents and Teachers for Children). Students brought books, journals and other class projects to share with their special someone while enjoying pastries together.
BLES PTC is a complete volunteer group working alongside Benjamin Logan Elementary. The goal of PTC is to enrich the experience for students and teachers through volunteering and fundraising. The PTC hosts the school fundraiser, organizes the box top program, hosts parties for the school, organizes skating parties, funds multiple class field trips/activities, purchases equipment for the classroom/staff and provides carry-ins for the staff during the year. Without parent support, many of these things can’t happen. If you have an interest in supporting the BLES PTC, please reach out via email to blesptc@gmail.com.

Benjamin Logan High School senior graduates from college before receiving high school diploma
Hannah Renay Miller, daughter of Layne and Julie Miller, recently graduated from Clark State University with a Business and Applied Technologies Associate's Degree. She's also scheduled to graduate from Benjamin Logan High School on May 27 at 7PM.
Thanks to Ohio’s College Credit Plus program Hannah pulled off the amazing achievement of officially graduating from college before receiving her high school diploma. College Credit Plus is a state program that allows high school students to enroll in college courses to earn both high school and college credit.
The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. This program reduces a student’s time in college and their total cost of an education. To signify participation in College Credit Plus, graduating members of Clark State wear blue cords over their academic gowns.
“Millers’ accomplishment is remarkable and one that has never been done at Benjamin Logan High School,” Director of Administrative Services, Sally Stolly said. “Her dedication to her college-level academics is truly remarkable and a testament to her intelligence and work ethic.”
Hannah majored in Marketing Management. “The classes I took were specific to business management as well as the basic foundations of marketing. I will be continuing my education at UNOH to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Marketing,” shared Hannah.
"Thank you to everyone who has put time and energy into supporting me from a young age. This accomplishment is a prime example that if you work hard enough, you can accomplish anything. Don't let your doubts define you."
