7th Grade Career Exploration
Most students don’t really think about what their careers will be after high school, so it’s good to get them thinking about it now. Ms. Greer worked with the seventh grade students in Mr. Kay’s Social Studies classes and to help them consider future careers. Students completed SCOIS career assessments. The assessment has eighty questions about activities students may find enjoyment in and used this to put them in career clusters. According to Ms. Greer “You can’t teach passion, but we can teach them the skills to use it.” In addition, she visited Mrs. Mundy's ELA class and conducted a career related activity associated with The Giver, which they are reading at this time.
Authors & Poets
Southwood Academy’s 6th, 7th, and 8th Choir will perform Authors and Poets Thursday, November 17th at 6:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center. This concert will focus on arrangements of songs used in or based on works of literature. They will be singing many songs, including “When I Grow Up,” “Pure Imagination,” and “The Road Not Taken.” Thursday, students will stay after school to rehearse. All are welcome to attend the performance, and there is no admission fee. If you are unable to make it to the concert, it will be livestreamed.
