Born: December 7, 1895
Died: January 12, 1954
Background
Francis started off at the age of 15 going to Lincoln University but then was excepted into Clark University. He also took a role in WWI. Later in life he started his career as a psychology teacher. From 1928 till his young age of death, 58 years, Francis severed as the chair of the psychology department at Howard University.
Contribution
Francis Cecil Sumner became the first African-American to earn a doctoral degree in psychology.
