EdCamp CSHS--Coming Monday, April 2nd!
Dear Cougar Family,
When we return from our upcoming three day weekend, we will have our last full day of professional learning for our campus. I am very excited to use the EdCamp format for the morning session! The EdCamp Foundation defines "Edcamps [as] free, participant-driven, un-conferences that empower educators to maximize professional learning experiences and peer networks."
In a typical EdCamp:
The schedule is developed the day of the event. Participants list conversations they feel they can facilitate and topics they would like to learn about. The event organizers then create a schedule while participants eat breakfast; the morning ends with a launch that includes sharing the norms for the day and the schedule.
In a campus EdCamp:
We are going to establish the schedule beforehand. Think about what you would like to learn more about and complete this short survey. Individual goals and campus goals are a great starting point as well.
We'll use your feedback in this form to assess campus-wide needs and use this information to create the guiding strands for our EdCamp schedule.
We will also use your feedback to choose leaders to facilitate conversations. These facilitators should not create any presentation or materials. The power of the EdCamp style of professional learning is that the smartest person in the room is THE ROOM. Our purpose is to learn from one another, and the facilitators are merely there to keep the conversation and sharing of ideas moving forward.
Want to learn more about the EdCamp format? Check out the video below.
Be sure to REGISTER for our professional learning day on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Eduphoria. We will have two sessions:
- EdCamp from 8:30 to 11:30 AM (Meet in the LGI and BYOD)
- Preparing for the Last Leg of the Journey, 1:00-4:00 PM, LGI (Faculty Meeting, including EOC Test Training & Other Special Guests & Awesomeness)
May you have a productive and meaningful 4 day week!
As always, COUGAR PRIDE!
Tiffany
P.S.--If you have an extenuating circumstance regarding next Monday that means you will not be part of our professional learning day, please email me immediately, so we can plan accordingly. Not being on campus on Monday will mean you have quite a few important items to catch up on in addition to missing an opportunity to learn from your peers in our incredible staff.
Spring is in the Air!
Please remember that our common expectations are the key part of creating an environment at CSHS in which students can strive for success. Take a moment to make sure you are helping communicate these common expectations to our students (and to your sub via your sub notes):
1) IDs: Students must wear them from when they enter the building to when they exit after school.
2) Tardies: Please do not let students in without a pass after the tardy bell.
3) Hall Passes: When a student leaves your classroom, he/she needs either a bathroom pass that clearly indicates the student is from your classroom and has permission to use the restroom nearest your room OR a blue hall pass that is completely filled out. More hall passes are available in the attendance office.
4) Hall Duty: Students should be met by lots of smiling faces as they make their way to the next class.
5) Dress Code: Holes in jeans (above the fingertips for both boys and girls), short shorts, leggings without a fingertip-length shirt, and hats are the most consistent dress code violations that administrators are seeing. Please check students as they enter your classroom. Often, we do not see a student out of dress code until lunch, which means they've gone by at least 4 teachers before we see them.
Your Feedback is Desired & Required...Regarding 504, SPED, & ESL Students!
It is IMPERATIVE that teachers complete AND return the student information sheets for students served under 504, SPED, and ESL. The accommodations each student receives are based on this input and the feedback is invaluable to help those in attendance make good decisions with the student and his/her family.
There is a DUE DATE on the top of the form and the information gets entered into the computer system prior to the meeting to help expedite the process. Make sure you are upholding your teacher responsibilities by taking care of this important task.
1st Annual CSHS Crawfish Boil for After Prom Bash!

ARD/504 Invitations--Be Sure to Click Yes!
The spring is certainly a busy time of year, and we know that any time away from your classroom is hard for both you and your students; however, another important part of our jobs is to attend ARD and 504 meetings. If you are on campus the date you are asked to attend an ARD or 504 meeting, our expectation is that you accept that invitation.
If you are getting multiple invitations for the same day or are feeling overwhelmed about the scheduling, please contact the assistant principal for the your department.
