STILLSON SPIRIT
March 2020 Newsletter
Dear Stillson Families,
February was a busy month! Bright Smiles was here at the beginning of the month to apply sealants on students that were signed up. We had field trips to our Outdoor Education site at Lake Wissota State Park for some snowshoeing and skiing. We had Battle of the Books at Stillson too. The 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students were asked to read specific books and answer questions about the books together as a team. We even had a staff team this year!!! It sure was exciting to see everyone working together to answer the questions about the books. We had our Valentine’s Day Parties this month and I was so impressed with our students Valentines boxes. What creativity and imagination!! RCU deposits have been going great! We received $250 for our 500 deposits that have been made. We had our 3Be Celebration with 3 stations-exercise, STEM activities, and a kindness project. We are now celebrating Dr. Seuss with each day this week being a different theme of what to wear, based on his books. What fun!! It’s like homecoming week for our kindergarten students.
We have had a mid-year check-in with our school Scorecard that is directly aligned with our district strategic plan and scorecard. Our action steps and progress monitoring show that Stillson is on track to meet our goals that we created this fall. The Stillson teachers have especially been working hard to provide you information on how well your child is learning and sending positive notes, emails, phone calls, and texts to you about your child. I appreciate your continual connection with and support of your child’s learning at Stillson. Working together, we can motivate and inspire all our children to be their best!!
More busy weeks of learning and grades 3-5 are getting ready for the Forward Exam, our state test, which will be given during April. This is the time of year that I see many of our students becoming confident and assured in their learning for the year. There is a lot of growing both physically and academically going on!!!! Thank you to all our families for helping our students become the best that they can be as we continue on to SPRING!!!!!!
Yours in Stillson Success,
Mrs. Carol Wilczek

Census 2020
Did you know that some of the funding that schools receive is based on the Census count in their district? In mid-March, Census information will begin arriving in mailboxes. We ask that you please help make sure your families, friends, and neighbors get counted by April 1st!
Your personal information is confidential. The Census Bureau is bound by law to protect your information and only use the data for statistical purposes. If you’re curious, here are the questions you will be asked.
There is a lot of information about the Census available. To learn more, please visit https://2020census.gov/

Weather Reminder
Students will be going outside during recess except when the actual temperature or wind chill is –6 or colder. They will be allowed to play in the snow if dressed properly. It is also important to label your child’s clothing and boots. Recess is an important time for social interaction. Exercise is a critical component for healthy growth and academic success.
All students will be expected to go outside for recess.

Student Safety
- The speed limit on the front road of Stillson is 15 MPH when there are students present. This pertains to any time in the morning and afternoon when there are busses and cars present, unloading and loading students.
- It is NOT permitted at any time for a vehicle to pass a school bus, even if the bus is stopped in front of the school. Please refrain from doing so as the busses are usually unloading children at this time and is a continuing safety concern.
- The speed limit in the side parking lot and front parking lot is 5 MPH. This is especially important as we have students using the cross walk, unloading and loading busses, and moving about while school is in session.
Thank you for being proactive in making Stillson a safe place.

Cartridges for Cash
We are collecting empty inkjet and toner cartridges to turn in for cash! We have partnered with a company that will pay us for our empty cartridges and issue a check for their value on a monthly basis.
Most empty inkjet cartridges are worth $1 to $2.50 each, and some laser cartridges are worth up to $8.00! Our “paycheck” could add up fast, so please help by bringing all the cartridges you use!
Here’s how you can help:
· Don’t put empty cartridges in the trash!
· Please bring all empty cartridges to the LMC.
· Bring empty cartridges from home and add to the collection (and our check!)
They will also take our recycled and refurbished cartridges to dispose in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

Parent Satisfaction Survey
Dear Parents and Guardians,
At the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District, we are committed to being an excellent school district for our students, families, and community. To help guide our improvement work, we gather feedback to determine where we are strong and where we can continue to improve.
The Parent Satisfaction Survey allows parents to provide input on their child’s school. I would like to personally invite every parent and guardian in our district to give us feedback using the following link: PARENT SATISFACTION SURVEY. Please complete the survey for each school where you currently have a child attending. The Parent Satisfaction Survey will be open from February 18th - April 9th. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the survey at your child’s school when you attend Parent / Teacher Conferences.
The information from the survey will be used by building principals and staff to plan actions for their individual buildings. Your feedback is so important to this process.
We value our opportunity to work with you and your family. We love our schools, our district, and our community! By working together, we can make them even better for our students. Our best days in Chippewa Falls are still to come! Thank you for your partnership and support.
My best,
Heidi Eliopoulos
Proud Superintendent of CFAUSD
