Twenty Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sacred Scripture LK 16:10
The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones.
Message of Mercy
Simple, Humble Hearts In the Gospel [Jesus] shows us the way, the way of the Beatitudes (cf. Mt 5:1-12). In fact, the kingdom of heaven is for those who do not place their security in material things but in love for God, for those who have a simple, humble heart that does not presume to be just and does not judge others, for those who know how to suffer with those who suffer and how to rejoice when others rejoice. They are not violent but merciful and strive to be instruments for reconciliation and peace. — Angelus, November 1, 2013
Reflection
Ask God for a simple humble heart that seeks justice and mercy and to suffer and to rejoice with others.
The message of mercy and reflection material is generously provided by Our Sunday Visitor, publisher of A Year of Mercy With Pope Francis: Daily Reflections.
Faculty Notes ...
This will be a week of another first in our STEM and Project Based Learning and growth. We will be culminating our all school project, our Pinwheels for Peace project. Thank you for all you have done with your students over the last couple weeks to help them learn and grow in their understanding of peace and their understanding of how they can plan a contributing part to world peace. Thank you also for the Religion, scripture, literature, and writing standards learning that you integrated, and any connections you integrated in science and social studies. And thank you especially to Erin, and to all of you who have given her extra help and support!
I hope everyone is clear on the format of Wednesday, as we are changing the presentation of the display to before the Mass. We are very proud and excited that visitors of the News Herald will be joining us, along with other St. Gabriel Parish members, including Fr. Fred, Fr. Jeremy and Fr. Michael.
Also this week, as we begin our first round of MAP assessments for our RTI, I hope all are clear on the schedule. Mary, Joyce, and Erin will be available to help with the technology and any procedures in which you come across unexpected challenges. I know you have been studying and practicing, and as we progress and master the program will discover the benefits for the children.
Also, we are working on smoothing out the lunchroom procedures for hot lunch. With our new kitchen team taking on new leadership and the digital program having some changes, we are slowly making progress. Stay tuned for updates we may need to enact. Thank you for getting to the lunch room in time to escort each homeroom back. The Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade teachers especially notice the difference in your students' manners and quietness when you are with them walking in the halls.
Still receiving great compliments from parents - and students - about the positive start to the year, and especially Fusion day. You are doing an awesome job, and all your extra time and efforts are reaping benefits for the students. I also notice and hear that collaboration among all of you as teams of teachers, on grade levels and across grade levels, brainstorming and creating together, is becoming more frequent and stronger. That is exciting and awesome! And what a model to the children!
A note also about our Peer Leadership Program we began last year in collaboration with CrossRoads and Danielle Klein. Some of you have been asking, and yes we are going to be implementing the program. It has been delayed a little with the need to get our other new initiatives going first. Stay tuned for directions on that.
"Teachers who inspire realize there will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones, it all depends on how we use them."

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Our PPC
Please let us pray for appreciation of life and how fragile and vulnerable it is! Let us re-treasure every moment, especially with those family and friends closest to us, not taking even one second for granted!
Please keep Andrea and Dave Karpuszka and family in your prayers in their time of loss.
Please pray for Francesca Calanni, Kylee Percival, and Andi Dingler for their health and safety through their pregnancies.
Please keep Chrissy and John Rusnak and family in your prayers as they are preparing for John to be deployed to Afghanistan on September 29. Let's please pray in a very special way for his safety, and indeed for the safety of all who are serving our country in our military forces. And also for the support of Chrissy and the girls. Let us lift them all up to our Father's caring embrace!
Please continue to pray also for each other, as colleagues and friends, and as companions on the discipleship journey of our mission in Christ. We all in various ways have unspoken needs, cares and tribulations in our families, needing big and little prayers.
Finally let us pray continually for all of our children and their families seeking our care, guidance and teaching in this year of great challenges and adventure leading us on new paths of great and exciting growth!
"BE KINDER THAN NECESSARY, FOR EVERYONE YOU MEET IS FIGHTING SOME KIND OF BATTLE."
Hoping everyone had a lovely weekend! Have a blessed 5th week of school!
Peace and trust in the Father, love and kindness in Jesus, and courage and wisdom and patience in the Spirit,
Blessings and growth to all,
See you in the morning,
Donna Lee
