Feathers Up Monthly Newsletter
May 2023
News from Mr. Culbreth
Warrior Family,
I cannot believe this is the last month of the school year! May is going to be a busy month at Lakeview Middle School. Please make sure that you are reading the Warrior Echo that we send out each Monday to stay updated on the weekly events taking place at Lakeview Middle School. Progress reports were issued to your students on April 28th. If you have any questions or concerns about your student's grades please contact the school at 706-866-1040 or email your student's teachers.
We ensure that all students are fed every day, however; our cafeteria charges are putting a strain on our school's budget and impede additional opportunities for all students. I am asking for your help in this area. If your student owes meal charges, please be sure to have all charges paid by the end of the school year. You can reach out to Penny Kirby, our cafeteria bookkeeper, for more information.
The 8th Grade Recognition will take place on May 17th in the LFO gym starting at 10:00 AM. Also, we will be having a block party for our 8th-grade students. This event will take place on May 18th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the football stadium and the cost will be $10 per ticket. Second-semester exams will take place on May 25th and 26th. We will be sending out more details on second-semester exams as those days draw nearer. I want to thank all Lakeview Middle School stakeholders for your support of our students and staff this school year.
I look forward to having a great end to our school year with you and your students! Please do not hesitate to contact the school with questions or concerns at any time.

Just a few reminders as this year comes to a close:
- If your child has medication here at LMS, it will need to be picked up ON or BEFORE THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, FRIDAY, MAY 26th. If it is not picked up, it will be discarded at the sheriff's department.
- Please remember it is Catoosa County Public School's policy that health plans are to be updated EVERY school year if your child has asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies (that require an Epipen) or any other health condition that requires an emergency medication to be administered to treat that condition. Health plans will be MAILED home to all students in the next few weeks who currently have health plans on file. These forms are also available online at https://www.catoosa.k12.ga.us/departments/student_services/student_health_services Just select the appropriate health plan that is needed for your child's health condition. You can get these completed by your child's healthcare provider and bring them to Open House in the Fall of 2023.
- Medications, both over-the-counter and prescription, are NOT ALLOWED to be carried by a student at school (unless specific medical conditions exist, meds are for EMERGENCY treatment, and documentation from a healthcare provider has been received).
- Immunizations for UPCOMING 7th GRADERS: Now is the time to get your child's 7th-grade vaccinations. Both the TDAP and MCV4 are required by the state of Georgia for school attendance. Doctors' offices, health departments, and walk-in clinics offer these vaccines. Please make sure that when these vaccines are given, they are documented on a GA3231 form. You can then submit that form to the nurse or registrar here at LMS.
I hope you all have a wonderful, exciting, and restful Summer Break!!!
Please call or email if you have any questions,
Nurse Janice
