what you need to know about the Eng. I & II EOC exams

The test has two parts: reading and writing.

Reading Section - Plan to spend about two hours on this part.
  1. 28 multiple choice questions - 1 point each (30%)
  2. 2 short answer questions (SAQ) - 9 points each (20%)


Writing Section - Plan to spend about two hours on this part.

  1. 22 multiple choice questions - 1 point each (24%)
  2. 1 essay - 24 points (26%)

English I has an expository essay. The prompt will begin with "Write an essay explaining..."

English II has a persuasive essay. The prompt will begin with "Write an essay stating your position on..."

During the final hour you should:

  1. Verify that you bubbled in an answer for EVERY multiple choice question.
  2. Make sure that your SAQ responses are written in the appropriate lined boxes and include good text evidence.
  3. Write the final draft of your essay on the lined page if you have not already done so.
  4. Use any remaining time to check your work! Edit for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
