Media Literacy at its Finest
Performance Final
What do you think is Media and Media Literacy?
I believe that the word Media is everything that deals with you and the outside world. Media includes television, advertisements, newspaper, magazines, social media sites, and even the radio. I believe that being media literate is the ability to understand media. Understanding media would mean that you are able to read and analyze data that is everything around you, the media. I believe that being media literate is a very important skill to have and is as important as being able to read. Media literacy includes social media which is a huge part of our current society. Such social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are so big that billions of people use them today. Without being media literate, you would be in a complete loss. The ability to understand how these sites function is a necessity in our present time. Without the knowledge of the online world you will be neglected and exposed. Understanding media literacy is important to learn because it will teach you the ins and outs of the online world, which will explain to you how dangerous the online world is and how to use it safely and effectively. With the knowledge of being media literate you will be able to cruise the internet without any worries from people trying to get your information and pretty much raiding your privacy. It is very important to be media literate in today’s society because everything we do in today’s time is through online resources and communicates through online resources. The media can be a dangerous place, but while with the right guidance the media can be a very useful and fun tool. The media is everywhere and it is unwise to not be media literate. Take the first step of becoming media literate and use the media wisely and safely!

Super Bowl Precis
Jaguar in the 2014 Big Game Commercial, “British Villains ‘Rendezvous ,’” claims that Britains’ “are more focused, we are more precise, and we are always one step ahead” and “are obsessed with power!” Jaguar supports their claim by comparing their characteristics such as “we are always in style” and “we have an eye for detail,” with their car which has a powerful, yet “bad boy” image. Jaguar’s purpose is to show that their F-Type Jaguar is the car that the people who are “obsessed with power,” “more focused,” and “more precise” want to drive. Jaguar commercializes this product with a powerful and confident tone for the “bad boys” to exhibit their F-Type Jaguar for the wealthy, yet with an adventurous taste who want to drive “Jagulously.”

Girlfriend’s Pants

Tuesday March 10, 2014
ATHENS,GA- Today, Tuesday March 10th of 2014, there has been a new trend that has put people in a mind boggling stage. It appears that that young men in their twenties were spotted wearing their “Girlfriend’s Pants,” said Jordan and Colin.
It appears that these college students have been breaking the law to attend some night events and unfortunately while in their Girlfriend’s pants! Apparently these pants have been proven to show the muscles in their legs and that it shows off their “body” more, claimed Jesse. Jesse volunteered to answers some Q&A that we had to ask him and he gladly accepted the challenge, but when we started asking questions about these so called “Girlfriend’s Pants” he seemed to get a little sensitive because Jesse, himself, was wearing a pair in the moment. Jesse claims that this is the new fashion, but let’s be honest, THERES NO BREATHING ROOM!

Citizen Erased
Citizen Erased Lyrics
"Citizen Erased"
Break me in,
Teach us to cheat
And to lie, cover up
What shouldn't be shared?
All the truth unwinding
Scraping away
At my mind
Please stop asking me to describe him
For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
With no feelings at all
Open minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
Self expressed, exhausting for all
To see and to be
What you want and what you need
The truth unwinding
Scraping away
At my mind
Please stop asking me to describe
For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
With no feelings at all
Open minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
With no feelings at all
Open minded
I'm sure I used to be so free
Wash me away
Clean your body of me
Erase all the memories
They will only bring us pain
And I've seen all I'll ever need
Reflection
My views on Media Literacy have slightly shifted. I know understand that Media Literacy is more than just social media, but it is almost everything around us. Media Literacy goes from Facebook to all the way to articles on the internet, to the news on television. We live around Media Literacy and it is really important to be Media literate, so we can be updated with what’s new and what’s old. One important thing that I learned is to take notes efficiently through the website called EasyBib. Having the options to take notes and make summaries on this site, helped me with multiple projects and help me not only reach my goal, but to go further and beyond. I also learned that reading is also not that bad, once you know what you are doing. Oh, and annotating became really handy actually helping me analyze and dissect each article I read. I feel like I’m taking my skills to annotate and my skills to take notes from this class and will definitely help me through my journey through University of Georgia! This class was a lot different than other language arts classes I have taken through my high school year. It felt a lot more of an AP class rather than just a simple honors class, giving us the responsibility to get our work done, in a relaxed classroom setting. Some improvements can be made without getting more students involved in reading, because if I was not interested in the story, I would have fell asleep every single day we read as a class. Overall, I enjoyed this class because of the atmosphere provided with the teaching, where we can laugh and express our thoughts freely without having to consciously stop our mouths from saying something that “could” get us in trouble. Thank you Mrs. Hicks for letting me have an opportunity to take your fun and exciting class!
