Technology Double Shot!

A double shot of technology information every Tuesday

January 13, 2015

The SAS Technology Department says: When in doubt, reboot!

If that doesn't work, do the robot.

First Shot: Bring the Periodic Table to Life

Ask any Science enthusiast and they'll tell you: the periodic table of the elements is awesome. Leave it to the good folks at Google to step it up a notch.

Their interactive Periodic Table of the Elements allows you to view the table, and manipulate it's display based on various criteria. For example, here's a visual representation of all the elements, with elements that are more prevalent in the earth's crust appearing proportionally taller.(Go Oxygen, go!)

There are lots of ways to bring the table to life. This is a great tool to share with students at any age, and is also just plain fun.

Second Shot: The Best Prezitations

To know me is to understand that I love the presentation tool Prezi. For the first time, Prezi staff and users have awarded honors to the Best Prezis of 2014.

Even if you are not a presentation nerd like some of us, *ahem*, there is some truly beautiful and inspirational work highlighted on their list.

Check out the full list, but if you only have time for one, I'd recommend viewing "Animais da Amazonia". Here's a screen-shot of one slide:

Hope you've enjoyed the Double Shot. More to come next week!
