Lee's Summit R7 Parents as Teachers
September 2021
Great Beginnings Early Education Center
We are in full swing!
Please remember, it is not your parent educator's decision to do visits outside, but a requirement of the district. If you do not wish to do outside visits, your parent educator can connect with you virtually. We know it has been warm outside and are all hoping for cooler weather. Please know we are all doing our best to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Thank you for your support and for continuing to work with our programming requirements.
3 to Pre-K Developmental Screenings
You must reside within the LSR7 boundaries to participate in a developmental screening.
We are doing screenings for children ages three to pre-k in person at Great Beginnings at this time. During a developmental screening your child will go with a parent educator for a brief assessment of language, motor, cognitive and speech skills. While your child is completing their screening, one parent or guardian will fill out information regarding social skills, opportunities for social interactions, and self-help skills. Once completed, the parent educator who completed the screening will conference with you and the child in private.
Eligibility and dates to sign-up and additional information for screening can be found on our website: http://pat.lsr7.net

Family Fun & Fitness
Apples, apples apples
Did you know that apples will float? Make a fun day with apple races, matching the color of the flag or just some pretend play! | A great sorting activity! You can use toilet paper tubes, cups, or another fun container. You can use fingers or tongs to pick up and sort. Count them, sort by color or just use you fine motor skills. | Make a different kind of bird feeder. They have carved out an apple and used peanut butter to keep the feed in place. Then put it outside and watch for the birds to come! |
We are looking for stories to share with others about the great things Parents as Teachers does for families in Lee's Summit. If you have a story that you would like to share, please send that to our lead parent educator at Tracy.Halphin@lsr7.net
