🍎Note from Principal:
The first month has flown by. We have seen our students grow so much over the last four weeks! One of our many highlights in August was our back-to-school Pancakes with Parents, where we had half of our staff and over sixty students and family members come out and share a tasty Saturday breakfast.
We are excited to continue to build our school family engagement as we enter September and parent teacher conferences approach. Please make sure to schedule your 1-1 time with your child’s teacher. As we continue to adjust to the post pandemic school environment, we see a great need to focus our work on rebuilding learner behaviors, making up for learning loss from remote learning and re-establishing strong school-family collaboration.
To be successful in this work we need our families help to ensure students arrive to school on time, reduced absences to student illness and family emergencies, make sure students are well rested and have eaten breakfast or arrive no later than 7:30am to eat breakfast, and are not pulled out of school early. Please try to schedule all appointments for afterschool. This will help our hard-working teachers and support team to do our part at school to ensure students are getting what they need academically to be successful in the present and in the future. September is attendance awareness month, please help us reduce our absences and tardies by 25% this month!
Thank you for being a part of our school community.
Yours sincerely,
Jessica Harris
Principal

In The Spotlight 🤩✨
Kindergarten Teacher: Robin Reddix
Let me take a moment to introduce myself... This is my 27th year in TUSD and my 11th year teaching kindergarten! 😅 I love what I do. My husband's name is Sean and together we have four children. Our oldest is a Sophomore at the UofA GO CATS!😻, two are in high school and our youngest just started middle school. I enjoy swimming, going to the movies, and reading (when I have time). I am a very dedicated Arizona Wildcat fan, so don't be surprised if your child comes home singing "Bear Down" 🐻👇
Kindergarten Teacher's Assistant: Jolene Luquin
Student and Family Liaison: Selina Heald
Hello all! This is my first year serving Steele Elementary as the Student and Family Support Liaison and I'm super excited to work with everyone and eager to strengthen our school community! 🚀 I have 15 years of experience in teaching English/Language Arts, as well as extracurricular activities like Student Council and Yearbook. I've also coached multiple sports. For over a decade, I was the TKAP coordinator, fostering cultural exchange between Tucson and Korea, hosting exchange students, and traveling to Korea with my students. Outside of work, I'm a parent to a 7th grader, Oliver, and my free time is mainly spent chauffeuring him around to various activities.
