This Week in Kindergarten
This week we continued on building our reading stamina! We are learning the three ways to read a book: read the pictures, read the words, and retell a familiar story. In Science, we continued to learn about our 5 senses and how they relay messages to our brains! In Social Studies we discussed our families and ways we show caring and love. In the library we celebrated Dot Day! We read the story The Dot and then made various dot crafts. Ask your child what they liked best about Dot Day. We’re really looking forward to our new season and hoping it will bring cooler temperatures some time soon!

Write-A-Check
Today our school officially launched our “Write a Check” fundraising campaign! This campaign raises funds to support our school’s technology, educational programs and class field trips. The money raised will STAY at Lakeside and is tax deductible. Here’s what you need to do:
- Go to lakesidepto.com and click on WEB STORE
- Make your donation and list ALL the students in your family
You can also send in completed orange sheet (sent home today in your child's Lakeside folder) in an envelope along with your donation. The classes that have 100% forms return (with or without donations) will be rewarded with a popsicle party!
Grandparent/Special Friend's Day
The time has come for Special Friend’s Day at Lakeside. Please make sure that you RSVP on the Special Friend RSVP form to help us plan a great visit for our friends.
*Please note that this form will stop accepting responses on October 4th at 8am.
Special Friends Day is a time for a Grandparents/Special Friend to come and visit your child at Lakeside! They will begin by having lunch in the Cafeteria then we'll head down to the classroom for some reading, singing and fun. If your child has a Grandparent that is unable to attend our Grandparents/ Special Friends celebration, they are welcome to write a letter or email to the grandchild/class and your child’s teacher will read it in their honor.
Kindergarten Special Friend’s time:
- Arrival at 10:30 am for lunch and the anticipated departure after a classroom visit time is 11:30 am.
If you have any questions, please let us know!
Fall is NEAR!
Next week we will be studying about fall. Autumn begins Thursday – can you believe summer is over? While you are enjoying time together with your family outside, please help your child look for signs of the season like leaves falling, acorns on the
ground, etc. Your child is welcome to bring these items to school to put in our science station so we can investigate them! As the temperature starts to change, we also ask that you send a sweater to school with your child.
