The AEC Principal's Report

December Edition

A Message From Your Principal

Greetings,

I am so excited to start another year as principal of the the Anna Education Center.

This will be my seventh year in Anna ISD as an administrator, 3 as an assistant principal at JKB, and my fourth as principal of the Anna Education Center.

I want you to know that my primary points of focus are student safety and student learning.

At the AEC we are committed to making our campus as safe as we can possibly make it.

We are also committed to ensuring that all students receive a quality education.

Our campus mission is to maximize the potential of all our students.

I look forward to another great year with our 6th graders!

Sincerely,

Gabe Medrano

Principal of the Anna Education Center

Early Release at 1:00 pm on Friday December 2nd

Dear Parents,

Our AHS Coyote Football team won the Regional Semi-Final Championship on Friday!

They will compete for the Regional Championship this Friday, December 2 in Crowley.

Because of this, we will need to release school early in order for our buses to be able to transport all of our students home and then our high school student-athletes, band, cheer, and drill teams to the game.

The AEC will follow our normal early dismissal schedule.

The AEC will release at 1:00 pm.

College and Military Day Dec 7

Important Messages

A message from Chris Burk, Anna ISD Transportation Director:

Students who use bus transportation to/from home and school each day must have a bus badge that scans on to the bus. Students who do not bring bus badges are not allowed to use bus transportation.

The bus badges help to ensure the safety of your students in allowing the school to quickly locate when and where your students are during routes. Damaging the bus badge by bending it or breaking it will break the RFID signal that allows it to scan properly.

If a student is unable to find their badge or their badge has become damaged, please bring $5 in an envelope with the student’s name and labelled Bus Badge to Ms. Ponce in the front office and a new bus badge can be obtained.

AEC Paraprofessional of the Month

Congratulations to Nolan Simmons, AEC Paraprofessional of the month of November and December!

Thank you for all you do Nolan!

AEC November-December Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to Penny Barnes, AEC Teacher of the month for September!

Here is a few things AEC faculty said about Barnes:

"Penny is a great advocate for the electives' teachers and is always going above and beyond to communicate with us and keep us up to date on issues concerning CTE. The students in Penny's classes are learning valuable skills and it shows when they use technology in Makerspace! I will ask the students "do you have Mrs. Barnes? And, they say, "yes, she showed us that!"

"Penny is an amazing teacher and leader. She is always concerned about her students and her team. Penny is a dedicated teacher who is always available for helping when needed. She was already coaching a UIL team and when the need arose for someone to take over Music Memory Penny stepped up."

"Penny Barnes is an awesome teacher. She works hard not only to teach the students but to make it fun for them. She is always willing to help others out and does it cheerfully."

"Penny gives her all to her students and co-workers. She is selfless, encouraging, caring, and is always willing to help!"

Thank you Penny for all that you do for the AEC!
