Rockwall High School Jacket Notes
May 22, 2022
Jacket Nation
This past week our Lady Jacket Soccer Team finished their season 2nd in the State bringing home the silver medal from the State Tournament in Georgetown, Tx. What a huge accomplishment by this group of athletes. All that to say this past weekend included more outstanding achievements by some of our other groups. Our Men's Gymnastics team won their 2nd State Championship in Back to Back fashion. Our Ladies' team finished up 3rd in the State. Our Softball Team finished their Season Undefeated in District and start their playoff run this next Thursday. Our Lady Jackets Track Team Won the Area Championship and our Men's Team finished 2nd, which is the first time that this has ever happened in the history of RHS. We have approximately 22 athletes advancing to regionals in Waco this coming Friday.
All of our Choir Groups won Sweepstakes at their UIL performances this past week. Our A Capella Group, Walk the Line traveled to NYC for their National Competition where they finished 2nd in the Nation. I feel like our programs and kids have been resilient the past two years eager to "shine" a spotlight on RHS and to put people on notice that we have some of the best and brightest young men & women walking our hallways. The best part of the job is seeing our kids excel and highlighting their achievements. I couldn't be prouder for our kids and programs who strive for excellence in all they do. I could keep going but that takes away from the rest of the newsletter, make sure and check out all the accomplishments the last two weeks.
Arena preview week has concluded for rising Sophomores and Freshman and scheduling will open on April 25th for current 9th graders/rising sophomores. Be sure and refer to the emails sent from the counseling center for all the details.
Prom is just around the corner and we still need parent volunteers. If you are a senior parent please pitch in and help work a shift. You can sign up on the link that was included in the prom informational email or the one included in this paragraph. We want to provide a memorable evening for our Seniors and this is one of the few times we request for parent help so we can make sure that happens for our kids. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0a4eacae2d6-senior
Testing and Graduation is here. In the next few weeks our students will be taking End of Course STAAR Exams, AP Tests, Dual Credit Exams, and IB tests. Through these exams our students confer college credits and our campus accountability is determined as well. All that to say that this is a very stressful time for our students and your encouragement is appreciated. We believe in our students and know they are ready to be successful on these exams.
Thank you Jacket Nation for your support and partnership.

SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS
Boys Baseball
Your Yellowjackets baseball team won their 1 game playoff in the 3rd Round Regional Quarterfinals last night in extra innings, 4-1, over Waxahachie. https://www.dallasnews.com/high-school-sports/
Cade Crossland started and pitched 3 innings allowing 1 run. Mac Rose relieved and went the final 5 innings earning the Win after striking out 6, walking 0 and allowing only 2 hits. Our lineup competed against the Waxahachie pitcher, Texas commit Jared Thomas. Tyler Rollins scored in the 2nd inning on a Tate Sloan 2 out single to left field. In the top of the 8th, Mac Rose hit a 3 run double down the right field line (scoring Brayden Randle, Pearson Riebock, and Andrew Tellia) to give the Jackets a 4-1 lead.
Tate Sloan and Brayden Randle turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the game and send Waxahachie home!
Next up is the 4th Round Regional Semifinals. Only 16 6A teams remain in the state. We will play either The Woodlands or Grand Oaks. https://txhighschoolbaseball.com/uncategorized/6a-flatbill-baseball-regional-quarterfinals-schedules/

RHS Track & Field
RHS Track Athletes had a great weekend at State. Two athletes, two medals.
Claire Lowrey placed 2nd in the high jump. Although, not the place or height she was expecting, she still managed to bring home a state medal for the 2nd consecutive year. Claire has one more chance to do that next year. We are still extremely proud of Claire.
Sam went out like he wanted by winning his event the Boys 110 Hurdles and by breaking his own meet record. Sam brought home the gold after bringing home bronze last season. He also shaved off a little from his previous personal best and school record of 13.75 by running a 13.70. Sam will be missed as he now will be attending Texas Tech to continue running Track.
I have attached pictures of Sam and Claire along with a video of Sam running his race.
It has been a great year overall for RHS Track and Field.
