Safety Drill
Today, Stone Bank School completed a lockdown safety drill in partnership with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
During the drill, under the supervision of staff members, students were asked to follow very specific procedures to ensure everyone’s safety. Following the drill, students and staff held follow-up discussions about safety options in the event of an emergency. As part of our ongoing focus on student safety training, this drill provides an opportunity for students and staff to rehearse our A.L.I.C.E. safety protocols, which empowers them to make the best decisions if they ever experience an emergency in school or in the community.
As a reminder, all emergency communications for parents/guardians uses contact data obtained from our Skyward student information system. Please maintain accurate information throughout the year in your Skyward parent account. If you need assistance with updating your information, please contact our front office.
We want to thank the Waukesha County Sherrif’s Department for their continued partnership in providing a safe learning environment for our Stone Bank community. Our goal as a Stone Bank School community is to earn a 5-star safety rating for our plans and practices. With each rehearsal of our drills, we create opportunities to meet our goal towards ensuring our school is well-prepared should an emergency arise.

Sports Reporters Visit SBS's 5th Grade
On Wednesday, December 11th, the fifth grade students were visited by two special guest speakers. Local sports reporters,Todd Rosiak and Lance Allan, helped kick-off the fifth grade journalism writing unit. Todd and Lance talked about what it takes to be a journalist, how reporters decide which stories to cover, the tools and skills both rely upon to do their job effectively and how both decided to become journalists. Lance even gave a “Shout Out” to SBS’s 5th graders during his 5:20pm sports update that evening.
Students will be spending the next few weeks looking for news around them and reporting their findings.
Todd covers the Milwaukee Brewers for the Milwaukee Journal. Lance Allan is TMJ4’s head sports reporter.

Many children experience conflicts throughout
the school year. When this happens we encourage
students to use strategies for resolving conflicts. We
encourage students to try and first resolve things on
their own if possible.
Some of these strategies include:
1. Take turns
2. Share with others
3. Avoid the situation or walk away
4. Apologize when you make a mistake
5. Compromise with each other
6. Use humor, laugh it off
7. Put off resolving conflict until you are in
control of your feelings
8. Get help from a trusted adult when you can
not solve it on your own
9. Use an “I Message” to tell the person how you are feeling
10. Leave the past in the past, don’t bring up past conflicts
Talking with your child about these strategies
will help them understand when and how to use
them.
“Tell me, I may listen. Teach me, I may
remember. Involve me, I will do it.”
