New Fall Fundraiser has started!!!
The Turner Creek Elementary PTA has started their fall fundraiser, READaTHON that is run completely in house!!! That means that 100% of the money raised will stay at Turner Creek! The purpose of this event is to encourage our students to develop a lifelong love of reading while raising money to support our school. Each student on track 4 has taken the first step by writing down their reading goal for a 7-day time period. They have been reading for 7 days AND getting lots of pledges for their hard work! Next week tracks 1, 2 & 3 will learn all about it and they will be looking for your support to help them make the “Leap into Reading” a success by collecting flat pledge amounts from family and friends to support our students' goals.
In years past we have used outside companies to help us do our fall fundraiser, but this usually means that the school only gets to keep about 50% of the money collected. So, to be better stewards of your generous donations, this year we are taking a “LEAP” into trying our own fundraiser with the hope that we can raise the same amount while keeping 100% OF FUNDS. So please help us take this step in a new direction and keep our fundraisers in-house!
All pledges and reading logs, no matter what track, will be accepted until October 26!
Please visit www.tce-pta.org/readathon-2018 for updates throughout the event.

Getting a child to school every day is not as simple as it sounds. Often it involves multiple people working together to ensure students are in school — parents, guardians, grandparents, siblings, bus drivers, carpool drivers, teachers, doctors, and nurses, to name a few.
In North Carolina, 14.8 percent of students miss 15 or more days of school per year, according to the latest data from the Office of Civil Rights. While some absences are out of a school district’s control, there are things districts can do to ensure students are not missing too many days of school.
The North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation released a new report this month sharing the results of a district self-assessment of their attendance policies. The report, embedded above, allows us to better understand district attendance policies and practices.
