School of Hope / Hope Homeschooling - May 2022
Principal's Message
May 3rd, 2022
Hello families!
Finally really starting to look like spring!
There are many reasons to celebrate this month besides spring becoming more solidly entrenched, including Catholic Education Week from May 23rd-27th (May 26 World Catholic Education day). We are proud and fortunate to be able to bring up and discuss God, Jesus and other spiritual matters as it arises within various subjects throughout the day. We should be thankful of this opportunity as other provinces do not have this option. In light of Catholic Education week coming up, you may want to take a few moments to write a kind note to a teacher. Here is a little prayer you may want to say with them in mind too!.
Other points of note:
Please consider reregistering to save your spot for next year. Our teachers and facilitators will be happy to help you with this. We have Open House online meetings happening for any friends you have who may be interested in finding out more about our school - info below.
We are planning a Next Year day on May 27th. This day, where students meet their next year teachers online and find out a little about what to expect the following year, has had much positive feedback. More details will follow later this month on this day.
In the next few weeks, families/students should soon be receiving our second and last survey - the Assurance Survey. We thank all those that gave input on the AB Ed Pillar surveys in February, which are questions put out by the province. The Assurance Survey is put out by our district, with input from our school. This makes it very targeted to our specific situations (especially questions about Online learning or about homeschooling!), and allows us to get much more directed feedback to know what areas are going well and where we need to improve. Please help us out with your feedback!
Please check out all the activities being offered at various locations in the province!
God Bless,
Michel Despins, Dwayne Coffey and Alicia Rudkowsky

May Podcast and Virtual Tours
May Pod Cast
This is a Canadian podcast of a young boy who asks a question and then interviews people who can help him understand. It is a fantastic look at some basic questions we all might have about the universe and it shows how inquiry works. This podcast is great for younger minds (but older ones will enjoy it also!)

May Virtual Tour
This month's virtual tour is another live cam. This is live feed from a bald eagle nest, which is located on BC's Gabriola Island. When you are on the website, check out the other projects - there is a bat cam, frog cam and an eagle perch tree cam.
