National Down Syndrome Society was established in the 1980’s. they were created to bring awareness and support to Down Syndrome. you can donate on the phone, online, by mail, or fax. you can donate in honor of someone and you can donate unwanted vehicles as well as money. the buddy walk is a fundraiser walk for people with down syndrome, you can walk, and people with down syndrome walk too. Down syndrome is the most common genetic disorder.
Down Syndrome Statistics
People with down syndrome actually have the same lifespan as all of us do. It is not hereditary either. Down syndrome occurs when there is a partial or whole copy of chromosome 21. Down syndrome was recognized as an actual disability in 1866. One in every 691 babies is born with down syndrome. No research shows correlation between a child having down syndrome and the mothers actions during pregnancy.

- There are three types of Down syndrome: trisomy 21 (nondisjunction) accounts for 95% of cases, Translocation accounts for about 4% and mosaicism accounts for about 1%.
