2nd Grade News
September 23-27
Quick Notes
- We are using several great tools, like Class Dojo and Seesaw, in our classrooms. While there is an option to contact the teacher through apps like these we kindly ask that you email us. We don't want to miss any communication with you, and email is a surefire way for everyone to get messages. Thanks!
- We are collecting Box Tops this year so feel free to send them in! *Call grandparents, friends that don't have school-age children, etc and ask them to save those Box Tops! They can really add up quickly for our school!
- Classrooms can be chilly. Feel free to send a jacket to school. Don't forget to label it!
- Please continue to send healthy snacks (that are not messy/sticky/gooey) and refillable water bottles each day.
- Please initial your child's CR Chart (it is in their white binder) every evening.

Weekly Learning Objectives
Please Remember- read with your child for 20 minutes each evening. We are doing a great job with our reading with reading logs. Please remind your child to fill it in each evening and please initial it. Please help your child remember to place their folder with their reading log and book back in their backpack. Thanks!
Math- We will learn the difference between the place and value of numbers and how their place changes the value of the number. We will begin practicing double-digit addition with and without regrouping.
Quick Idea- Continue quizzing basic math facts in quick short bursts. In the car, before dinner, after breakfast, etc.
Grab a pair of dice. Roll both. Ask your child to make the largest number possible. Then ask your child to name the value of the number in the tens place. Ex. 42. The value of the 4 is 40. You can even play with three dice and go all the way to the hundreds place.
Social Studies- We will continue learning about our nation's symbols and their meanings. We will begin learning about our state symbols and their meanings.
