Note from the Principal
Hello NES Families,
We are looking forward to seeing students at Skate Night on Wednesday! It's at the Lynden Skateway anytime between 5:30-7:30pm. See more details below.
I also want to let you know that we'll be practicing an Earthquake Drill on Monday. We do our best to practice different safety drills throughout the school year, about once a month. We practice fire and evacuation drills, lockdown drills, and earthquake drills. This helps all staff and students feel more confident about our routines.
Here's to a great week ahead. Early Release on Wednesday!
Sincerely,
Katie Brown

Elementary Music Performances for the 2022-2023 School Year
We are excited and grateful to be able to offer music performances again at our elementary schools. We are going to try out a new concert schedule this year that we feel will benefit our students. We will gather feedback from staff and families at the end of the year to see how everyone felt it went.
Here is the concert schedule for Nooksack Elementary:
February 10th - 2nd & 3rd grade performance: 2:00-2:45pm
March 15th - 4th and 5th grade performance: 2:00-2:45pm
- May 24th - Kinder & 1st grade performance: 2:00-2:45pm
We have decided our concerts this year will be from 2:00-2:45 PM. This allows parents time to take their kids home after the performance and to clear out our parking lot in time for normal bus pick-up. At the concerts, only the students performing will be attending. We don't have enough space for our whole school AND families, but the rest of the school will have a chance to see the show during the dress rehearsals.
A few reasons we would like to try this schedule:
- All concerts can be held during the school day so all students can perform.
- Having concerts by grade band (K-1, 2-3, 4-5), will give students more time to sing more songs. Families will get to see their child perform more pieces.
- By holding performances later in the year, students will feel more prepared and confident in their ability and readiness to stand in front of an audience and perform. Students will also be able to perform music they’ve learned in the classroom curriculum and will not need to deviate in order to prepare for a performance.
Sincerely,
Katie Brown (Principal)
