Birth & Background

- Born on February 1, 1846

- Son of Evansville Bascom Hall and Abigail Beals

- Grew up on a farm in Ashfield Massachusetts


- In 1862, Hall left Ashfield for Williston Academy. However, He was not happy there. The following year he transferred to Williams College. Upon graduating in 1867, he wanted to study abroad but did not have the necessary funds, so he attended the Union Theological Seminary for a year, and then was able to travel abroad. Eventually Hall was granted his PhD. in Psychology under William James and Henry P. Bowditch, the first PhD. in Psychology in America.

Contribution to Psychology & Death

- G. Stanley Hall founds the American Psychological Association(APA)

- Hall was the first president of the American Psychological Association and the first president of Clark University.

- Died in 1924
