What's Happening at Willard Next Week? | May 22, 2020
Stay Spirited, Stay Connected, & Stay Supported
Memorial Day Holiday
This Monday, May 25, we will be able to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States military. In thanking our service men and women, we wanted to share some family-friendly ways to pay tribute to our greatest heroes. First, visit StoryCorps, which has partnered with local news stations, to deliver the Military Voices Initiative. It aims to share the stories of those on the front lines. Then, venture over to A Million Thanks to learn how you can send a letter to our troops. Lastly, Operation Gratitude offers volunteer opportunities for those interested in making care packages for the military. As a reminder, school will not be in session on Monday.
School Item Pick Up & Drop Off
From Monday, June 8 to Wednesday, June 10, we will have opportunities for Willard families to pick up items that were left at school prior to the closure. In addition, during this same time period, students will be able to drop off concert uniforms, instruments, textbooks, and/or library/classroom books. Please see the specific pick up and drop off times below. Also, please note the following details:
Before Arriving at Willard (Car Window Sign): Parents should place a sign in their window with the first and last name of their child/children. In addition, please write the locker number of your child/children, which can be found in StudentVUE. Please write the information large enough to be seen from a distance.
Curbside Drop Off (Bus Loop): Students who need to return concert uniforms, instruments, textbooks, and/or library/classroom books need to go directly to the bus loop by the band room. There will be four labeled bins to place items for return. After returning the items, cars should exit the drop off area and turn right onto Braddock Rd. in order to enter the main entrance to pick up left items.
Curbside Pick Up (Kiss & Ride Loop): Parents will enter the main entrance and follow the signs to head towards the side of the cafeteria. Using the properly labeled car window sign, Willard staff will bring out items left by the student(s). We will place items in the trunk of the vehicle. Parents and passengers should not exit the vehicle. Once items have been received, you are welcome to make a left (from the cafeteria area) and head home. But, if you need to pick up medicine, we will have the pleasure of seeing you a bit longer. Please continue reading to learn more.
Medicine Pick Up (Turnaround Circle Beyond the Cafeteria): After dropping off and picking up items, students who need to pick up medicine will make a right and drive down to the turnaround circle (near the basketball court). Nurse Young will distribute medicine to parents; however, please call the school on your pick up day, so we may ensure that the medicine is ready.
Special Note: If parents have a child in eighth grade and a child in ninth grade, please complete the pick up/drop off process on the ninth grade day, June 9.
