Kindergarten and First grade parents need to use their car signs. If they have misplaced it, please let your child’s teacher know. Also add that ALL cars need to pull all the way up and we will bring your child to you.

Thank you for your feedback about morning drop off. We have added a staff member to aid in the drop off line in the morning. Please make sure that you are ready to drop your child off when you pull through the drop off and that you pull to the furthest spot available under the awning.

Morning Supervision

We do not have staff available before 7:15 am in the morning. Please make sure that your child is supervised until we are able to. Your child's safety is very important to us.

Carpool Lane Reminder

Please do not park in the drop off lane. This jams the parking lot and makes it very hard for people to get in and out of the parking lot. Please make sure when you pull through the lane, your kiddos are ready to exit the vehicle. Thank you so much!

Back by popular demand, we will be pulling names of students who are on time every day for awards. Tell your student who is ON TIME to watch the morning announcements for winners.

One of our goals this year is for every staff member and every student to have 97% attendance for the school year. That calculates out to less than 6 absences for the entire year. Please help us reach this goal by making sure that your child is at school every day that they can!

Thank you for your help in making sure your child is at school every day!

Message from the Principal

This week has been a great week at Lakewood! Our students are learning and growing each day. This year there is a major focus on writing, so please ask to see your student's writing. I know they would love to share with you! Our Specials team has really hit the ground running. In Music, they are gearing up for a 5th and 6th grade production of The Wizard of Oz! In Library, the students have been introduced to MakerSpace, in Art students have been creating dots in preparation of DOT DAY and in PE students have been getting active through play and games. At Lakewood, our Specials Team contributes to creating well-rounded children who will be prepared to be amazing citizens!

Family Trips

The Texas statue does not allow a student absence from school for a vacation or trip during instructional days. The absence is considered unexcused. Any missed assignments may be completed for a maximum grade of a 70. A student must make up school work due to an absence. It is the responsibility of the student to initiate and schedule with the teacher all make up tests and work procedures. A student is given one day of make-up time for missed work for each day absent, up to five days.

The school calendar is located in your child's MOOSE. Please look for school holidays to plan family vacations or trips. Important instruction takes place every day and we don't want your child to miss anything and possibly get behind!

Wear your colors day!

Monday, September 17 is HEB's Wear Your Colors Day! All staff and students are invited to wear a shirt or the colors from their favorite college. It is never too early to be thinking about the many options to continue education after high school.

Lakewood has College Colors Days every six weeks when report cards are available.

Black and Blue Food Drive

The annual Black and Blue Food Drive begins on Tuesday, September 4. We will be collecting non-perishable food items that will go to the 6 Stones Food Pantry and to Christmas Providers for families in need.

We make it fun by having a friendly competition between the Trinity side (Black) and the Bell side (Blue) to see who can bring the most items. The winner is announced at the Bell Trinity Football game. We also have some competition at Lakewood Elementary to see who can bring the most items!

Thank you for your help!

Second and Fourth Grade Parents

All second and fourth graders will be CogAT tested September 24-26. Please make sure your child has a great night's sleep and a healthy breakfast.
