Teaching with Technology in the K-12 Classroom
Format: self-paced modules
SCECHs: yes (4 hours)
Consultant: Andrea Zellner (andrea.zellner@oakland.k12.mi.us)
Description: Teaching with Technology in the K-12 Classroom begins by laying a theoretical understanding of why we use technology to support learning, and the best practices surrounding teaching and learning with technology. The second learning objective is to have a bit of fun (and enjoy lots of elephant gifs). Finally, users will engage with real world examples and case studies as they build their own resources and contribute to the larger conversation about teaching and learning with technology.Introduction to Formative Assessment
Format: self-paced modules
SCECHs: pending (6 hours)
Consultant: Les Howard (les.howard@oakland.k12.mi.us)
Description: Introduction to Formative Assessment contains six hour-long modules. The first is an introduction to the five strategies of formative assessment, and the subsequent modules provide a deeper exploration of each of the five. In this course you will learn about:
- the five strategies of formative assessment,
- clarifying and sharing learning intentions,
- providing effective feedback to students,
- engineering effective discussions and tasks,
- activating students as learning resources for one another, and
- activating students as owners of their own learning.
Launching the Reader's & Writer's Notebook with Secondary Students - Curated Collection
Format: curated collection
SCECHs: no
Consultant: Delia DeCourcy (delia.decourcy@oakland.k12.mi.us)
Description: This curated collection provides classroom resources and professional development materials for educators launching the workshop model in secondary classrooms. The notebook is a fundamental part of the workshop model that helps to establish the class as a community of readers and writers. This culture also prioritizes student voice, choice in books and writing topic selection, experimentation, and a love of the written word.4T Virtual Conference 2016 Recorded Webinars
The 4T Virtual Conference happens from May 21-23. This three-day virtual extravaganza involves teachers teaching other teachers about best practices in tech integration via interactive webinars. Can't make it to the live sessions? These hour-long recorded webinars will be available in mi PLACE in early June.
